I am seeking a position as a school counselor, and I believe my education, experience, and personal qualifications make me an ideal candidate for a career in this environment.

I am attaching hereto my résumé for your consideration. I have earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work and obtained my LISW-S. Additionally, my work experience has prepared me to deal with the complex issues faced by student and their families. This experience includes who have severe mental illness, socioeconomics, intellectual disabilities/learning barriers, legal/immigration issues, alcohol/substance abuse and physical health issues. The personal qualities that I believe to be of particular importance to the school environment are my abilities to empathize with clients and approach them with a gentle, open, nonjudgmental attitude. Moreover, my ability to multi-task and take initiative is attributes that are needed to be competent in this position. It is important to state here that I thoroughly understand the problems surrounding our students and their families who are underserved, chronically mentally and physically disabled to a great extent because of my education and work experience.

Experienced Licensed Independent Social Worker with Supervising Credential from State of Ohio (Active license). Thirteen years of experience in case management and individual/family counseling. In addition, experienced with various age groups and educational systems to promote client’s success by advising career exploration, resume writing, interviewing skills, etc. Team oriented and able to maintain cultural sensitivity while establishing rapport with members of diverse backgrounds. Strong leadership qualities and highly motivated. Excellent problem-solving skills while advocating for underserved and vulnerable populations.
