- Follow directions of the utility foreman.
- Safely operating heavy equipment-Loader.
- Perform basic preventive maintenance of equipment.
- Working within confined spaces (after required training) at varying depths.
- Assisting with the installation of trench boxes.
- Must identify and communicate poor trench conditions to ensure safety.
- Assisting utilities brick mason as needed
- Assist with the placement of ductile, concrete and steel piping.
- Assist during utility pipe repairs.
- Work in varying weather conditions and work environments including dusty, wet, loud noises, etc.
- Keep company vehicle, tools, work site and equipment clean and orderly, informing management of any safety concerns.
- Comply with all SBCC policies, procedures and safety requirements.
- Perform any other general duties as specified.
- 3-5 years experience operating a loader.
- High school diploma/GED preferred.
- Must be able to use loader to move materials efficiently and safely.
- Understanding of safe equipment operation including equipment warning and alarms requiring actions by the operator.
- Based on duties, may be required to obtain DOT medical certification.
- Must obtain a negative drug test result prior to hire and maintain throughout term of employment.
- Must meet SBCC's employment standards with regards to background checks.
- Must have the ability to stand, crawl and kneel for long periods of time
- Work environments will vary making it necessary to tolerate weather conditions, such as rain and extreme temperatures. Employees may be exposed to dust, dirt, varying temperatures, loud noises, etc.
- Valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record by complying with standards established by SBCC policy.
- Basic Excavator and bulldozer experience.
- Ability to recognize and communicate trench conditions to ensure safety.

Role and Responsibilities
The Operator III will be responsible for supporting Utilities crews during the installation of underground water, sewer, drainage pipeline, and trench boxes. Will require the operation of a loader during earth moving and backfilling operations.
