- Responsible for the Departmental Risk Management Control framework strategy staying current as well as identifying new control objectives when necessary to help mitigate risk and/or losses. Will promote and address change control within the Department regarding new and modified products and services.
- Performs control testing and monitoring on a periodic basis as required by the departmental control framework.
- Designs and executes a program of "first line of defense" risk and compliance monitoring for the line of business, in collaboration with senior management, audit, and risk management.
- Manages departmental risk management strategy staying up to date on applicable legal, market, credit, operational, and regulatory risk which influences the department.
- Ensures the policies and standards owned by the department are updated and monitored accordingly. Collaborates with department to develop new policies or standards as needed.
- Works with department leadership to prepare for and support internal and external audits, including conducting post-audit "lessons learned" reviews and targeted follow-up training to address identified deficiencies.
- Leads departmental responses and coordinating mitigation efforts for findings resulting from examinations, internal and external audits, Event Reports and self-identified issues.
- Facilitates the completion of Event Reports, as well as oversight to assure event reports are fully completed, gathering data from relevant departments and coordinating with other departmental ROCI representatives when necessary.
- Oversees the onboarding process for new vendor relationships, conducting ongoing risk assessments, monitoring, and documents collection based on vendor risk profiles, completed annually/ bi-annually.
- Completes formal and informal departmental vendor Requests for Proposal (RFP) process, including analysis of vendor responses for new vendors and contract renewals
- Maintains current data for employees, facilities, applications, and other data to ensure the Departmental Business Continuity Planning (BCP) details are up to date and can be executed. Coordinates and conducts yearly BCP testing and Business Impact Analysis, adjusting plans accordingly thus ensuring continuous improvements are made.
- Maintains and develops department specific material, in partnership with department management, to provide risk related training that will instill the beliefs, knowledge, attitudes and understanding about risk management to department staff, thus embedding a risk culture.
- Partners with compliance department to monitor regulatory changes and assists implementing such changes within the department.
- Provides support to department leadership on various risk-related initiatives, including conducting research and offering guidance to strengthen the departments risk profile.
- Serves as a resource for resolving complex problems and issues within the department.
- Develops and validates both ad-hoc and standard reporting related to managing operational strategy, risk, and controls using various tools, IBM query, Cognos, Excel, SharePoint and Access.
- Manages departmental projects using enterprise project management office (PMO) process, procedure, framework, and templates.
- The role requires occasional travel for training and team meetings, and willingness to travel periodically, to locations within market as needed.
- May require work in a Midland office to ensure collaboration and support of internal and external customers.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).

- Minimum five years of demonstrated experience in banking.
- Requires knowledge of technologies and systems that are used in financial institutions.
- Requires working knowledge of federal and state banking laws and regulations, as well as risk and compliance processes for financial institutions.

Position Summary
This position will be responsible for ensuring departmental risk management controls are updated and current to the represent the current business line controls. This position will also serve as the departmental Risk Owner Community of Interest (ROCI) as the risk subject matter expert within the department and the primary point of contact for Risk Management. This gives the position the overall "responsibility" of the risk profile for the department. As ROCI, this position will attend periodic Risk Management meetings covering key updates from various enterprise level risk-related committees, discuss key topics, current initiatives, and best practices around risk management. The position also will be responsible for compliance and Audit initiatives for the department. The ROCI will share timely risk updates with business unit leadership and provide guidance and training as needed to ensure a strong Risk profile. This position is an individual contributor role.
