    Description

    The Systems Engineer II will have solid expertise in Electrical, Instrumentation and Control Systems, focusing on design, programming, troubleshooting, commissioning, and start-up tasks. As an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer, your journey will take you with a team to different US Military sites globally to gather and prepare data, make precise engineering calculations, and create in-depth reports and quotes. You'll be tasked with basic engineering designs reviewed by senior team members. The ideal candidate will perform thorough analysis and inspection of current systems, offering recommendations for maintenance, replacement, or enhancements to prolong system lifespan.

    Required Qualifications & Skills:

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited University.
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in control systems engineering, preferably within a DoD setting.
    • 3+ years of experience in designing and programming control systems, with a focus on PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems.
    • Proficiency in interpreting electrical/mechanical flow and instrument diagrams, with expertise in ICS/SCADA protocols by major vendors like Schneider Electric, Johnson Controls, SEL, Tridium, and similar.
    • Hands-on experience in interpreting and creating low voltage electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
    • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices, such as NIST, CMMC, ISA, and IEEE.
    • Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and standards, including CMMC, NIST SP, and IEC.
    • Skilled in industrial control system security best practices.
    • Familiarity with National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements for low voltage systems.
    • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot issues in low voltage systems, like identifying and resolving communication errors, repairing wiring faults, and isolating short circuits.
    • Travel readiness to various government installations and facilities (max 50% travel).
    • Experience in installing, configuring, and deploying SCADA software and hardware components.
    • Proficiency in integrating SCADA systems with other industrial automation systems, databases, and enterprise IT systems for seamless data sharing.
    • Capability to analyze system logs, alarms, and alerts to identify faults and anomalies, and apply necessary corrections.
    • Creation of detailed documentation, including system architecture diagrams, user manuals, configuration documents, and standard operating procedures.
    • Ability to meet the requirements for obtaining and maintaining a military CAC card.

    Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

    • Experience with Automated Fuel Handling Equipment (AFHE), SCADA systems, Automated Tank Gauging (ATG), Independent Alarm Systems (IAS), Overfill Protection Equipment (OPE), Hydrant Fueling Automation for Maintenance (HFAM), and industrial networks.
    • Proficiency in Python scripting for automation and data analysis.
    • In-depth knowledge and practical experience with SCADA communication standards like Modbus, DNP3, BACnet, MSTP, RS485, RS232, and RS422.
    • Development and execution of control system validation/testing protocols.
    • QA/QC Testing of control panels at panel shops.
    • Proven experience with IEC-61131-type programming logic controllers (PLCs) such as Schneider Electric M580, Rockwell ControlLogix, and Tridium Niagara JACE controller.
    • Certification as IAT Level II per DoD 8140 (e.g., Security+), or successor.
    • Basic knowledge of operational technology networking (e.g., Purdue model, OSI model, common ports and protocols, segmentation, VLANs, TCP/IP).
    • Experience with the Tridium Niagara platform.
    • Expertise in BACnet troubleshooting and optimization.
    • Experience in start-up and commissioning of automated equipment.
