CUCE-NYC's programs are the fruit of a long-standing partnership of Cornell Cooperative Extension, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, and the College of Human Ecology to support extension education in NYC.

CUCE-NYC offers programs in Nutrition & Health, Family & Youth Development, and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.

CUCE-NYC engages Cornell programs, students and faculty to partner with NYC communities in generating, using and translating cutting edge research.


What You Will Do:


Cornell Cooperative Extension in New York City has immediate openings for temporary nutrition educators to work in locations across NYC.

Positions are 35 hours per week and will begin June 15, 2024 (tentative), through September 30, 2024.


Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Identify and establish partnerships with community partners with access to EFNEP eligible families and youth
  • Implement nutrition program activities at schools, after school programs, and communitybased organizations and at Farmers' Markets throughout NYC as assigned
  • Assist in the implementation of nutrition education lessons with youth and adults in communitybased agencies and support other program activities as assigned
  • Prepare materials and set up exhibits
  • Conduct foodtasting demonstrations
  • Inform public about Cornell University Cooperative Extension
  • NYC Nutrition & Health Programs and refer individuals, as appropriate, to various programs for which they may be eligible
  • Prepare program reports
  • Provide support to community educators, volunteers and interns as appropriate
  • Participate in Navigating for Success (new frontline educator training) and other inservices in NYC, Ithaca and other locations as required.
  • Position is fulltime (35 hours per week); however, there may be some flexibility with the hours

Required skills & qualifications:


  • Must be available to work evenings, and Saturdays and/or Sundays, if assigned.
  • Able to work well as a team member.
  • Able to communicate in English (written & spoken).
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Able to work with diverse populations.
  • Reliable, dependable.
  • Willingness to travel to program sites throughout New York City and work outdoors in a variety of summer weather conditions (i.e., under a canopy/tent in high temperatures).

Preferred skills & qualifications:


  • Bilingual in English/Spanish, and/or English/Creole.
  • Successful completion of CUCE-NYC Nutrition & Health program series.
  • High school diploma/GED enrollment.
