Description

Duties:


  • You will provide contractual and quality oversight of the Government contracted Ship building and repair efforts conducted by the National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (GD-NASSCO), and other such ship construction and repair efforts.
  • You will conduct product verification inspection (PVI), inprocess inspections, perform procedures evaluations (PE) and audits across multiple production areas.
  • You will be responsible for monitoring the capability of the builder's processes, regularly auditing their inprocess execution, and inspecting the final products produced.
  • You will be responsible for utilizing specialized electronic databases providing detailed and retrievable documentation of all quality and performance aspects directly observed.
  • You will be responsible for preparing and monitoring surveillance plans, sampling criteria for the fabrication, installation, activation, testing and trials of numerous shipboard systems.
  • You will be responsible for monitoring corrective actions to assure product delivered adheres to referenced standards, corrective actions prove successful and adequate to prevent recurrence.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a preappointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position requires sea trial events, including physical hazards encountered on a ship at sea, pitching and rolling, waterslick decking, steep ladders with restricted head clearance, and noise at levels requiring hearing protection.

Qualifications:


  • Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the
    (GS09) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following
:
"Performing quality assurance functions related to shipboard mechanical system(s), construction, maintenance, test, repairs or operations initiatives or efforts."

Education:


Education may be substituted for experience as follows:
Successfully completed a Ph.
D. or equivalent doctoral degree;
OR
Successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.
D. or equivalent degree;
OR
Successfully completed an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled;
OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
