    Position Responsibilities:


    The School of Pharmacy, Department of Medicinal Chemistry invites you to apply for our postdoctoral fellow position The successful candidate will perform research at the highest level in glycosaminoglycan research at Virginia Commonwealth University.

    We specialize in developing and testing novel molecules against cancer, thrombosis and other diseases (see Mol. Cancer Ther ; J. Thromb. Haemost ; J. Med. Chem The incumbent will execute and troubleshoot chemical synthesis, biophysical/biochemical studies, and/or computational experiments directed towards discovering new therapeutics.


    Required Qualifications:

    • PhD in medicinal chemistry, organic chemistry, biophysical chemistry, biochemistry, or related area.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
    • Experience in research involving chemical synthesis, biophysical/biochemical studies, and/or computational experiments.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced and flexible environment.
    • Willingness to collaborate with scientists from different laboratories.
    • Demonstrated the ability to learn and grow scientifically.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • PhD in research involving glycans and protein - glycan interactions.
