- Provide broad support to the technology branch by assisting in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria, and assist in and make independent judgments in making adaptations and modifications of approaches.
- Perform work which requires broad advanced technical capabilities in aerospace ground test facility infrastructure.
- Support development of advanced analysis and system integrations techniques
- Support analysis for structural, thermal, and dynamic loading cases
- Support computational fluid dynamics and finite analysis efforts
- Perform work which involves the preparation, interpretation or review of calculations, specifications, plans, investigations, surveys, assessments of structures, systems or equipment with relatively few complex features
- Supports the engineering tools development processes with deploying and adhering to common engineering work processes throughout the TOS contract
- It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy
- Perform other related duties as required
- Master of Science degree in in mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university plus a minimum of 7 years of progressive and relevant experience.
- Current U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Doctorate Degree in mechanical engineering.
- Experience with the following:
- Finite Element theory, solid mechanics analysis and application (ANSYS)
- Propulsion, wind tunnel and /or space related environment test facilities experience.
- Advanced modeling and (laser based, probe based) diagnostic techniques.
- Model Based System Engineering approaches and experience.
- Dynamic data analysis, including frequency domain analysis.
- Fracture mechanics experience.
- Ability to perform in a dynamic working environment with flexibility to achieve the mission
- Must be able to communicate clearly and use various methods of communication.
- Demonstrated experience successfully building relationships with variety of personnel.
- Active Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance

This successful candidate will work within the Technology Development Branch to provide integrations of simulation and facility analysis, advanced diagnostic and data analysis techniques to advance toward supportable technology products applied to ground test facility infrastructure.
The work involves thermal and structural and systems level analysis and modeling of components and systems for ground test infrastructure for testing of air and space vehicle systems and sub-systems.
This work includes integrating concept design, design analysis, prototyping and further development of devices used to test and/or make measurements in the simulated environmental conditions for aerospace system ground testing. The work involves conceptualizing, modeling, structural and thermal analysis, response and life cycle expectancy, analyze existing and developing systems components, and troubleshooting approaches and integration of devices into ground test facility infrastructure.
The work supports Aeropropulsion, Flight, and Space and Missiles ground test facilities at AEDC.
Job Duties:
AEDC's mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, ground, and flight test. Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers.
