At the University of Greifswald, subject to budgetary regulations, the position of Head of Procurement (m/f/d) is to be filled as soon as possible on a full-time, permanent basis.

The appointment can be made in the civil service or as an employee, depending on personal qualifications.


Your responsibilities will include managing the department with approximately eight employees, coordinating personnel deployment, task distribution, and work organization, as well as budget responsibility for centrally managed funds.

You will also be responsible for conducting procurement procedures, primarily for purchases above EU thresholds, such as scientific equipment, initial equipment, and framework contracts.

This will involve handling procurement-related fundamental matters, including the development of internal procurement regulations, as well as participating in and reviewing complex or cross-cutting procurement processes, complaints, and statements for review bodies.

Additionally, you will contribute to the development of strategic purchasing, as well as the implementation of the university's climate protection strategy by developing and implementing concepts to increase sustainability in procurement and providing data for the university's greenhouse gas balance.

You will also play a role in the further development of digitally supported processes for eProcurement and procurement management, as well as other cross-cutting procurement topics such as procurement controlling, supplier management, and contract management.


We are looking for a candidate with a university degree (at least a diploma, master's, or equivalent) in economics, law, administration, natural sciences, or a comparable degree with relevant knowledge and skills.
