    Our Outpatient Surgery Center is looking for a Full-time Operating Room (OR) Circulating Registered Nurse (RN) M-F day shift No Weekends, No call, No Major Holidays We are looking for experienced Operating Room nurses who value teamwork and thrive in a busy outpatient environment. Previous OR experience is a must.

    Summary

    The position of Perioperative Nurse incorporates the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses' Standards, Guidelines and Recommended Practices (AORN). The Perioperative Nurse is accountable for providing all aspects of perioperative care according to established policies and procedures, and reports to the Director of Nursing.

    Responsibilities

    • Demonstrates ability to assess patient status on admission to the preop area, the operating room and/or the pacu area and on a continuing basis.
    • Utilizes the nursing process for patient assessment, problem identification, and any interventions.
    • Prepares patients for surgical procedures.
    • Physiologically monitors patients during procedures as required.
    • Administers and documents medications, solutions and treatments as prescribed.
    • Assists physicians with examinations, procedures or other patient care activities.
    • Monitors and controls the environment.
    • Provides equipment and supplies in a cost-effective manner based on patient's needs.
    • Provides timely, accurate and complete documentation.
    • Respects patient's rights
    • Participates in patient/family teaching based on the developmental age of patient.
    • Performs actions that demonstrate accountability.
    • Orients, instructs, and trains assigned personnel.
    • Follows established infection control policies and procedures.
    • Assigns activity to assistive personnel based on their qualifications and patient's needs.
    • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in various programs, in-services, workshops and meetings.
    • Maintains competencies to function in the RN role within specific area. (Ex. Preop, OR, and Pacu).
    • Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills which promote a positive environment, teamwork and loyalty to the organization.
    • Maintains a collegial relationship with physicians to ensure quality patient care.
    • In accordance with the ambulatory surgery center philosophy, presents behaviors and actions which create a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, physicians, vendors and Surgery Center staff.
    • Demonstrates behaviors and actions which support the mission, goals and operations of the Surgery Center that also contribute to continuous service improvement.
    • Exhibits flexibility, adapting readily to changes in the work environment and/or work schedule.
    • Maintains a positive attitude, even during periods of stress and challenge.
    • Maintains positive attendance and communicate in advance any absences from work.

    Qualifications

    • Current licensure in this Arizona as a Registered Nurse.
    • Previous work experience in a clinical setting no less than one (1) year.
    • Proof of current BLS training/education.
    • Completion of ACLS and PALS course within six (6) months of date of hire.
    • Competence in oral and written communication.
    • Computer skills (Computer charting, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
    • Intermittent and prolonged physical mobility/activity including walking, standing, sitting, lifting up to 50 pounds, pulling and pushing of carts, equipment, etc. Must be able to bend body downward at the waist; be able to kneel.
