    The UW Alzheimer Disease Research Center (ADRC) has an exciting opportunity for a Research Coordinator (NE S 6) to manage and coordinate studies in Alzheimer and related dementias.

    This position will function under the general direction of the Program Manager and Principal Investigator to implement clinical observational and interventional trials.

    This full-time position is based at the UW ADRC research offices in the Ninth and Jefferson Building on the Harborview Medical Center campus.

    This position requires the ability to integrate information from multiple sources.

    This individual will enact procedures that ensure that all research meets or exceeds these requirements while furthering the research objectives of the ADRC.

    This position will interact with a variety of individuals, including faculty investigators, center staff, clinical research subjects with varying levels of cognitive ability, family members of clinical research subjects, and associated external organizations.

    The position will require the use of independent judgement, problem solving skills, project and time management, and delegated authority to ensure that each of the research projects remain on deadline for successful execution of benchmarked deliverables.

    The position will involve neuropsychometric testing to evaluate cognitive status of research participants. There are multiple resources available within the University system (e.g. Grant and Contract Services, Institutional Review Board, Office of Industry Relations) to help in this process, but ultimately, the work must be done independently and in a resourceful manner to expedite the research objectives.


    The position will support the on-going research being done at the UW Medicine Memory and Brain Wellness Center (MBWC) and UW Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC).

    These Centers house multidisciplinary teams of clinical specialists who care for patients with neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and other ailments that affect cognitive ability.

    Researchers work to advance discoveries and treatments for these disorders.


    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    Protocol Management (30%)

    Work independently on multiple research projects without benefit of explicit daily written policies or procedures.

    Interpret and apply study procols.

    Assess current clinical or administrative operations to identify and establish successful workflow for research subject recruitment and study execution.

    Work with multiple UW groups (e.g. Grant and Contract Services, Human Subjects Review Committee, Environmental Health and Safety, Clinical Research Budget and Billing) to ensure timely implementation of each research project and compliance with regulatory agencies within and beyond the institution.

    Prepare human subject applications, consent forms and progress report as needed.


    Document and maintain policies and procedures for patient registration and protocol implementation to ensure that research execution meets Good Clinical Practice guidelines.

    Design, create and revise research instruments (e.g. case report forms) as necessary to ensure quality data that satisfies research objectives. Document and implement procedures for audits to assure protocol compliance and to ensure research data quality. Develop and implement corrective action plans to ensure protocol adherence and data integrity.

    Create and maintain study database tools. Assist with creating and performing quality assessment and improvement methods.

    Ensure that projects are executed successfully and completed within required time frames to meet research objectives.

    Study Subject Coordination (60%)


    Assist in scheduling appointments, ordering tests and procedures to facilitate protocol adherence, billing compliance, and to ensure accurate and reliable data collection.

    Assist in biospecimen collection, processing, logging and transfer.

    Perform neuropsychometric testing, analysis, and databasing.

    Analysis and Reporting (5%)


    Prepare interim reports for principal investigators and Institutional Review Board to ensure that each project is moving toward timely completion.

    Assist in analyzing data to be presented at conferences or published in scientific journals.

    Other (5%)

    Perform related duties as required.


    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
    Bachelor's Degree in science or humanities, equivalent experience can substitute for degree requirement.

    1 year or less minimum work experience.

    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.


    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
    Independent and self-motivated.

    Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

    Familiarity with conducting research projects.


    Ability to work as a collaborative, cooperative, and congenial member of a scholarly and administrative team, as well as work independently.


    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    Experience with REDCAP data management system.

    Training and/or knowledge in ethical conduct of research with human subjects.

    Knowledge and prior experience with working with geriatric or cognitively or neurologically impaired populations.

    Fluent in Spanish
