    The School of Social Work seeks a 75-80% FTE Research Coordinator to work with the Latino Center for Health (LCH), the only research center in Washington state and the WWAMI region whose singular focus is on advancing Latinx health.

    The Latino Center for Health is an interdisciplinary research center that seeks to promote the health and well-being of Latinas and Latinos in Washington State and regionally in culturally responsive ways.

    A major goal of the Center is to promote the health and well-being of Latinx communities through collaborative research partnerships with community-based organizations, researchers, and government agencies.

    Through its research, the Center informs and impacts policy and practice affecting Latinx communities across the state. The Center's research foci include physical health, particularly chronic diseases, and mental health, across the life span. Drs. Gino Aisenberg and Leo Morales serve as co-directors of the Center.


    Under the supervision of the Center's co-directors, this position will support the research activities of the Latino Center for Health.

    The Center is a state-funded community engaged research center at the University of Washington.

    The Research Coordinator will support and coordinate the successful development and implementation of the Center's research projects and research-related dissemination efforts, such as conferences, symposiums, and publications.

    This role may include recruitment of subjects for research projects, preparation of IRB applications, and the administration of surveys and qualitative interviews to research subjects.

    The Research Coordinator should feel comfortable working in the research environment and community and clinical settings.


    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    General Research Activities - 70%


    The research assistant has responsibility to track, coordinate and execute independently or collaboratively research activities including communication with research team members including offsite partners, planning and coordinating research team meetings, preparation of research study materials, submission of IRB applications, creation and maintenance of study databases, and preparing reports of findings.


    Towards these ends, this position works to:


    Ensure that project and research projects are executed successfully and completed within established time frames by creating and tracking progress towards project-related milestones and deliverables.


    Work collaboratively with project leaders and other research team members to plan and coordinate research dissemination efforts including conferences and symposiums.

    Work with research team members to coordinate the writing and publication of research policy briefs and peer-reviewed manuscripts.


    Coordinate and facilitate project meetings, including center meetings and research proposal preparation/review meetings; preparation agendas using input from supervisors and independent judgement; track and assign actionable tasks.

    Assist in managing research project budgets and with purchasing of research related equipment, supplies, services, and reimbursement processes.

    Attend LCH weekly team meetings and participate in LCH center-wide activities as appropriate.

    Specific Ongoing Research Studies and Projects

    Study of Long COVID Among Latinos in Washington State - 20%

    Coordinate and facilitate research project meetings.

    Prepare meetings agendas.

    Track project tasks and milestones.

    Assist with dissemination activities.

    Adios COVID - 10%

    Attend weekly team meetings.

    Coordinate community vaccination and health screening clinics.

    Coordinate community referrals for telehealth appointments with UW Medicine providers.

    Assist with budgetary needs, including purchases and facilitating communications with SSW budget manager.


    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
    Bachelor's degree or higher in Public Health, Sociology, Psychology, Nursing or another health-related field.

    Three years of experience coordinating research projects.

    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.


    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
    Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and familiarity with project management software such as Asana.


    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    Four years of experience in research, health or social services administration.

    Demonstrated commitment and familiarity working with Latino communities.

    Experience developing and submitting Institutional Review Board (IRB) proposal and modification requests, and developing study materials.

    Experience working with stakeholders in government agencies, health care agencies, and/or community organizations.

    Experience with event planning, vendor relations, travel, and reimbursements.

    Experience in web-based survey development and research management systems (RedCap, DatStat, etc.).

    Working knowledge of community-based organizations, health care systems, public health, and relevant agencies.

    Experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods.

    Clinical background desirable.

    Oral and written Spanish language skills desirable.

    Comfort with and experience working in community-based settings desirable.


    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
    This position is Hybrid in-person and remote work.
