What? Physics laboratory technicians work closely with scientists in laboratories, experimental facilities where processes are carried out on a larger scale, and in industrial production.

In production, they are particularly involved in quality control tasks.

In areas such as research, development, analytics, application technology, and environmental protection, they independently conduct measurements and investigations, evaluate the results, and document them.

Who? The minimum requirement is a secondary school diploma.
Important skills include understanding of mathematics, physics, and technology, as well as careful work.

Where? Trainees learn in the Physics and Chemistry Training Laboratory as well as in various institutes of the Juelich Research Center.

They attend vocational school classes at the Simmerath/Stolberg Vocational College of the Aachen Region in Stolberg.
How long? The training lasts three and a half years.
