- Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, or a related behavioral science field AND three years professional administrative experience in human services, project management, criminal justice, or a related behavioral science field
- Equivalent combination of education and experience in areas above to total 7 or more years.
- Position requires honorable discharge from military service and qualification as a veteran under MN Stat

- Manage and oversee the Justice Involved Veterans Program within the Veterans Services department. Provide project management and development of a continuum of services. Lead development and implementation of systems, policies, procedures, and tools as assigned to achieve program area goals. Provide work direction to the JIV Veteran Service Officer and serve as departmental liaison to staff in Community Corrections to ensure efficient program management.
- Coordinate and oversee the administrative operations and volunteer management of the Peer Mentor Program for Dakota County in support of the First Judicial District Veterans Treatment Court.
- Serve as the Veterans Services department lead for the First Judicial District Veterans Treatment Court. Lead and coordinate cross-departmental efforts and serve on a collaborative team with other divisional, county-wide, first judicial staff and stakeholders.
- Attend scheduled Veterans Treatment Court hearings, pre/post court mentor/mentee meetings, and staff meetings as needed.
- Monitor operational performance, conduct organizational and functional analyses, and make recommendations for improved operations.
- Lead the development and implementation of process improvement efforts and develop and/or modify accompanying policies, procedures and best practices to ensure compliance and support efficient operations within the Justice Involved Veterans Program and Peer Mentor Programming.
- Research effective justice involved veterans programming to establish best practices model of service.
- Demonstrate a commitment to support the cultural diversity goals of the county and seek to recruit and retain a mentor program that meets the needs of diverse court participants.
- Provide consultation, training, and technical assistance in assigned program areas and increase staff knowledge and skills through training and mentoring others.
- Direct and manage outreach efforts and internal meetings to communicate program information
- Identify needed systems changes in rules, regulations and funding streams in assigned program areas.
- Participate in Justice Involved Veteran related trainings and events locally and nationally through All Rise-Justice for Veterans Program
- Write grants; oversee implementation and monitoring of grants.
- Completes verbal or written reports.
- Knowledge of government and/or human services structure and programs
- Knowledge of criminal behavior and the criminal justice system in Minnesota; working knowledge of the components within a court proceeding
- Strong military cultural knowledge and competency.
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles and practices of volunteer recruiting and management.
- Ability to coordinate and facilitate mentor meetings and outreach events within the community.
- Experience with strategic planning, project management, data collection and analysis.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to use good judgement, make sound decisions, and to resolve conflict.
- Ability to follow court rules of conduct and must maintain confidentiality.
- Proficient in computer and mobile applications, to include, Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Publisher), TEAMS, Zoom, and Adobe Pro.

What you will do:
The role of the Justice Involved Veterans Treatment Court Peer Mentor Program Coordinator will oversee the Dakota County Justice Involved Veterans (JIV) Program along with managing the operations of the Veterans Treatment Court Peer Mentor Program, including recruitment, interviewing, training and sustaining Veteran Peer Mentors.

Work is conducted in a hybrid environment and is primarily sedentary. It is usually accomplished while incumbent is comfortably seated at a desk or table in an adequately lighted and climate-controlled office.
Location and Schedule
The Veteran's Services Office is located in the Dakota County Northern Service Center in West St. Paul, MN. Business is usually conducted between the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Evening meetings and events may occur occasionally. Some travel required primarily within Dakota County.
