    Summary Statement

    This role plays an integral part in conducting regulatory field work and administrative tasks within the Division of Public Health's Office of Radiation Control. The successful candidate will become certified as an x-ray facility inspector, training peers on advanced radiation systems and conducting inspections across all modalities utilized in healthcare, industrial, educational, and R&D settings. Additionally, the position involves participation in emergency readiness and response activities such as training sessions and drills.

    Selective Requirement

    Candidates must fulfill the following requirements in addition to the standard job criteria. Failure to meet these specific conditions will result in disqualification:

    • Hold an FDA certification in Mammography.
    • Possess certification in Radiological Accident Assessment Concepts (RAAC) for emergency scenarios.

    Essential Functions

    • Conduct field studies, inspections, and assessments to ensure compliance with regulatory standards; gather, analyze, and interpret data, and provide recommendations based on findings.
    • Perform statistical analysis of collected data.
    • Review technical documentation and offer recommendations on permit applications to ensure adherence to regulations.
    • Prepare permits, technical reports, and enforcement-related documents.
    • Address technical and regulatory inquiries from various agencies and organizations.

    Job Requirements

    JOB REQUIREMENTS for Environmental Scientist IV
    • Hold a Master's degree or higher in an environmentally related field OR a Bachelor's degree or higher in an environmentally related discipline along with professional certification.
    • Demonstrate scientific expertise through publications in scientific or industry journals.
    • Minimum of three years of experience in managing environmental projects, including planning, implementation, and evaluation to ensure project goals are achieved.
    • Three years of experience in analyzing scientific data.
    • Three years of experience in interpreting environmental laws, regulations, and policies.
