THE POSITION:


Are you ready to meet new challenges and make a significant difference in a unique and diverse population? The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services is actively seeking a Forensic Registered Nurse Supervisor to be a part of our dynamic nursing team at Norristown State Hospital.

The Department is looking for individuals who are creative, energetic, and compassionate to provide essential nursing services to our consumers.


DESCRIPTION OF WORK:


As a Forensic Registered Nurse Supervisor, you will direct, plan, and participate in the nursing care delivered to newly admitted and long-term consumers from the community criminal justice systems with a wide variety of acute and long-term psychiatric and behavioral disorders that require intensive inpatient psychiatric evaluation and treatment.

You will communicate and collaborate on a regular basis with the Chief Nurse Executive, Nurse Manager 1, and the supervisors of the other shifts to provide consistent continuity of care and supervision.

You will be responsible for providing guidance, direction, and evaluation of subordinate staff's compliance with security and safety measures unique to the Forensic Center and serve as a resource person to nursing staff, nursing administration, members of the interdisciplinary team, and consumer support services.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • Fulltime employment
  • Work hours are 2nd shift (3:00 PM to 11:30 PM) with rotating on and off duty days, including weekends and holidays. May change based on operational needs.
  • Overtime and travel as needed

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY:


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:


  • Three years as a Forensic Registered Nurse (commonwealth title);
    or:
  • Four years of professional nursing experience providing care, treatment, custody, and control of psychiatric patients.

Special Requirements:


  • All positions require active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Other Requirements:


  • PA residency requirement is currently
    waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:


  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
  • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
