Job Description and Duties
This position involves operating specified vehicles that require a Class A driver's license under Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor's supervision. The role includes working individually or with a crew on tasks related to Caltrans Equipment Operator II. Tasks involve maintaining and operating specified equipment for highway maintenance. The incumbent may also be required to work overtime, irregular shifts, holidays, and respond to emergency situations.
To apply for this position, you must have transfer eligibility based on current or past state civil service eligibility or have taken and passed an exam for this classification.
Working Conditions
Location: Alameda County
The incumbent can expect to work in various weather conditions and be exposed to environmental factors associated with highway maintenance, such as high speed vehicle traffic, loud noise, and hazardous materials. Safety equipment like hard hats and safety glasses will be required.
New to State candidates will be hired at the minimum salary level for the classification or the minimum of the alternate range if applicable.
