Job Summary:
The Employment Specialist develops job opportunities for participants enrolled in the Career Pathway Program (CPP).

Responsible for career assessment, job readiness, conducting workforce training classes, and job placement services while addressing participant's barriers to achieving their intermediate and long-term employment goals.

This position will develop Individualized Career Plan (ICP) and execute on what the plan outlines.

Once placed in employment, the Employment Specialist will also maintain contact with participants and continually assess the need for supportive services.


Pay:
$ $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Job Purpose:


Provides career planning and development and a range of workforce readiness services to obtain successful employment for all program participants.


Duties:


  • Provide career assessment and counseling to program participants and develop an ICP
  • Greet participants and explain Building A Generation's programs and resources while maintaining a professional, welcoming demeanor at all times
  • Conduct outreach to promote CPP and increase prospective participant pool
  • Identify barriers to overcome and provide resources to establish specific measurable shortterm, intermediate and longterm career goals on the ICP
  • Facilitates "career competency development" training to help participant develop, maintain, or improve their success of obtaining longterm employment.
  • Provide workforce readiness services that includes assessment, resume and interview preparation, career planning and development, job search trips, computer skills workshops, and general business skills
  • Connect program participants to apprenticeship and/or occupational training programs based on employment goals on their ICP
  • Refer applicants by matching employment requests with participant interests and skills; making and coordinating appointments
  • Promotes successful employment by obtaining feedback from participants; examining work attitudes and behaviors providing direction and counseling; exploring vocational goals; conducting job performance workshops
  • Contact partners and determine job openings for program participants
  • Conduct follow up for participants enrolled in training, apprenticeships and/or employment up until 1 year of employment
  • Maintain accurate and uptodate employment statistics by tracking data and indicators for enrollment, participation and progress on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
  • Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing skill and employment data and trends according to organizations policy, procedures and processes
  • Must be willing to embrace new initiatives and other duties as assigned

Skills Qualification:

1) Bachelor's preferred but will accept relevant work experience in career counseling or related field

Physical /Emotional Demands:

The ability to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time using desktop or Laptop.

Ability to meet with participants and travel roughly 15% of the time to outreach, meetings, events, job fairs (mileage reimbursed for approved travel).

Must be able to remain calm while working with emotional participants and their current situation.

  • Position is full time, Onsite, Typically M-F 8:004:30pm with willingness to work evenings and weekends if needed. Employer offers benefits package (medical/dental coverage, vision, life insurance, 403(b), paid vacation/sick, holiday).
