    Under the direction of the Recreation Center Assistant Manager, the Recreation Center Youth Services Supervisor is responsible for a wide variety of administrative and operational duties associated with youth services and programming at the Frisco Athletic Center.

    Oversees the daily operations of the Play Depot childcare area and Camp Play Frisco. Hires, trains, supervises, motivates, schedules, and evaluates assigned staff. Maintains and secures facilities, develops, and implements operational policies and procedures, and resolves customer complaints and issues.


    The intent of this position description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbent(s) in this position.

    Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties in this description and incumbent(s) may be required to perform position-related tasks other than those specifically listed in this description.


    • Provides supervision and implements administrative procedures for the operations of the athletic center recreation programs and the Play Depot.
    • Supervises assigned staff which includes applicant selection, prioritization of activities, training, counseling, discipline and conducting performance evaluations.
    • Assists in evaluating and implementing policies and procedures that enhance the efficiency and productivity of the recreational facilities, programs, and services.
    • Oversees facility reservation schedule for the Play Depot.
    • Manages cash functions and implements cash management policies and procedures.
    • Assists in developing, administering, monitoring, and coordinating departmental budgets.
    • Monitors and schedules activities at the center and enforces center use and safety policies.
    • Monitors facility activities for participant compliance with health and safety rules; prepares accident and/or injury incident reports when required.
    • Supervises employee schedules and division payroll as required for efficient operations and as needed to meet financial goals and policies.
    • Establishes, fosters, and maintains effective working relationships with the public, city staff, and vendors.
    • Participates as an active member of the Frisco Athletic Center management team.
    • Assists members and guests with membership sales, program registration, facility rentals, etc. for programs and services in accordance with department software.
    • Serves as Manager on Duty on a rotating schedule as needed.
    • Opens facility and/or secures facility at closing. Interacts with public and staff on a daily basis; answers inquiries, resolves complaints, grievances, emergencies and assist patrons as needed.

    Other Important Duties:

    • May assist in developing, planning, and implementing special events.
    • Travels to attend meetings, conferences, and training.
    • May be required to work extended hours, evenings, and weekends.
    • Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours is essential.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
    • May assist with program registration as needed.
    • May need to provide CPR and First Aid and prepares incident reports.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of customer service, cashiering, and general office practices and procedures.
    • Knowledge of posting, reconciling receipts and handling deposits.
    • Knowledge of City policies and procedures.
    • Knowledge of athletic and recreational activities and their current rules, regulations and procedures.
    • Knowledge of applicable safety rules and regulations to protect citizens and employees.
    • Proficiency in the use of computers and related equipment, hardware and software to plan, develop, create advertisements, brochures and publications.
    • Skill in effective oral and written communications.
    • Skill in resolving customer complaints and concerns.
    • Skill in providing customer service to angry or hostile citizens.
    • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with the public, city staff, and vendors.

    Education, Experience, and Certifications/Licenses:

    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Recreation or related field and three years' experience in the recreation field including two years' supervisory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Must obtain adult and infant CPR, AED and First Aid Certification within 3 months.
    • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check and MVR check.
    • Must possess valid State of Texas Driver's License.

    Environmental Factors and Conditions:

    • Work is performed in office and fitness center environment.
    • May be subject to exposure to air and water borne pathogens, body fluids, and infectious diseases when applying CPR, First Aid or cleaning facilities.
