    Description

    Job Description and Duties

    • Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department, is accepting applications for a Permanent, Full-Time appointment of Psychiatric Technician - Recovery Lifestyle Program Counselor under the direct supervision of the Program Assistant- Structured Treatment Program of Enhancement Services.
    • The position will focus on facilitating substance recovery treatment in the Recovery Lifestyle Program (RLP), a day treatment program for patients with substance use disorders (SUD).
    • As a Recovery Lifestyle Program (RLP) Counselor, the PT will work within a team of counselors directing group treatment to dually diagnosed patients.
    • The candidate will provide substance recovery treatment to dually diagnosed patients with varying cognitive abilities and stages of change under the direct supervision of the PA-STP of Enhancement Services.
    • The selected applicant will collaborate with treatment teams to determine the most appropriate substance recovery treatment activities for each patient.
    • The successful candidate should have excellent people skills, experience in group facilitation, and positive experience working with patients individually and in groups.
    • Knowledge and experience in Co-Occurring disorders, CBT/Relapse Prevention, and 12 Step Programs are required.
    • Desirable qualities include personal initiative, flexibility, strong work ethic, effective communication skills, and the ability to manage a large caseload.

    Patton State Hospital is a forensic psychiatric hospital established in 1890, providing treatment to forensically and civilly committed patients within a secure treatment area.

    Special Requirements

    • Drug Screening, Background Investigation, Medical Clearance, and PSYCH TECH LICENSE are required prior to hiring.
