Summary
This role falls under FEMA's Cadre of On-call Response/Recovery Employee (CORE) Program, offering a temporary appointment in the Excepted Service for up to 4 years, extendable based on workload and funding availability. Veterans Preference does not apply to the CORE selection process.

FEMA prepares the nation for all types of hazards and leads Federal response and recovery operations post any national incident. EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: Every FEMA staff member bears emergency management responsibilities, with the potential for deployment to disaster sites when needed. Emergency operations may involve irregular work hours, duty station changes, and varied tasks. Travel for emergency support can be extensive and sudden, requiring relocation to sites with demanding conditions.
In this role, you will act as a Federal Coordinating Officer (FCO), overseeing federal support post the President's disaster declaration. FCOs lead disaster response and recovery efforts in collaboration with FEMA and local partners, establishing field offices and coordinating activities. Your responsibilities include:
Promotion Potential: Roles governed by Stafford Act regulations typically lack documented promotion paths. However, CORE employees may qualify for promotions based on their performance, the need for higher-level tasks, and administrative approval.
