    Director of Development & Marketing

    Full time - $28-38/hour, depending on experience ($60,000 - $80,000 Annually)

    Our mission in FACE is to advance the Asian American community's participation, contribution, and influence through faith and community partnerships.


    OVERVIEW:
    Established in 2001, FACE has fostered over 800 partners from White House to Fortune 500 Companies.

    FACE serves as a light and bridge between the Asian-American community and the greater community at large:

    by connecting and creating private and public collaboration, maximizing the capacities of faith-based organizations and other community non profits, increasing access to resources and funds, assisting low-income individuals, and revitalizing neighborhoods.

    Current program examples include Stop AAPI Hate, Homeownership, Foreclosure Prevention, Paid Internship, C2 Leadership Institute, Lighting the Community Summit, Affordable Housing, and Research.

    OUR APPROACH:

    We accomplish our mission through community partnership with non-profits, churches, governmental agencies, and corporations, grant acquisition & distribution, training faith and community leaders, and assisting individuals and families in home ownership and employment training opportunities.


    ROLE DESCRIPTION


    A key member of the senior management staff; the Director of Development and Marketing is responsible for managing FACE's acquisition of new sources of funding appropriate to FACE mission, goals, and programs.

    The DDP will also provide oversight over grant implementation, program development and functioning, as well as marketing and PR.

    The Director of Development and Programming will have a successful track record in program development and implementation to go along with a strong marketing and public relations background.

    The Director of Development and Marketing will work under the direction of FACE's President & CEO.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Responsible for meeting or exceeding stated funding goals.

    Oversee Grant Writer and grant proposals to secure grants from private, foundation, public, government, and corporate sources.


    Work with the management team and program staff to develop proposal/program goals; work with finance staff for budget preparation and track success ratio, fundraising efforts and events, manage physical and electronic filing related to funding, submit narrative and financial reports to grantor organizations as required.

    Monitor program activities to ensure compliance with federal grant requirements and to create compelling & accurate grant proposals

    Monitor reporting deadlines, compile, write grants in and efficient and effective manner, letters of inquiry, progress reports, acknowledgment letters, and other correspondences

    Participate in community meetings, bidder's conferences as necessary and formation of strategic partnerships for FACE events and programs


    Conducting targeted research on the availability of private and government funds, including the identification of new funding sources, consistent with FACE's priorities.

    Create and maintain simple database for managing all fundraising records (contacts, addresses, etc.)

    Respond to inquiries, involving, where appropriate, senior management, other personnel and members of the Board, and manage their effective involvement in fundraising efforts


    Development:
    Design and implement a comprehensive development strategy, including an annual action plan with short- and long-term fundraising goals

    Marketing:
    Develop promotional marketing strategy for FACE

    Enhance visibility via creative communications channels, including print, web, press and social media

    Design and oversee production of all promotional material such as the annual report, the organization's website and newsletter, and other publications

    Manage all activities related to FACE development:

    Write proposals to secure grants from private, foundation, public, government, and corporate sources;

    Search out and secure new sources of funding appropriate to FACE mission, goals, and programs;

    Participate in strategic planning of programs and activities related to specific funding opportunities;

    Participate in strategic planning of overall FACE development plan;

    Monitor program activities to ensure compliance with federal grant requirements;

    Monitor reporting deadlines, compile, and submit narrative and financial reports to grantor organizations as required;

    Manage physical and electronic filing related to funding;

    Coordinate project administration:
    QuickBooks, fiscal recordkeeping, budgeting, grants reporting;

    Analyzes program requirements and objectives and advises FACE administrators and program staff to ensure program and budgetary compliance;

    Coordinate fundraising efforts;

    Participate in community meetings and formation of strategic partnerships for FACE events and programs;

    Coordinate and implement national advocacy efforts.

    Manage all activities related to FACE operations:

    Administrate public relations:
    Ensure smooth and effective operation of ongoing programs and prompt resolution of problems. Works closely with program management to support their day-to-day needs, review program goals and plans for compliance and accomplishment.


    Develop and implement staff training and professional development activities to enhance the skills and educational levels of all FACE staff, as a means of strengthening the organization.

    Work with management staff and community stakeholders to establish linkages between programs, administration, and the community. Facilitate improved communication and coordination of services throughout the organization and to external stakeholders.


    Contribute to the atmosphere of pride in working for or associated with FACE, by maintaining a sense of shared purpose throughout the organization and the community.

    Motivate others and to communicate enthusiasm for shared goals.

    Understanding of and commitment to the mission of FACE a personal passion for service. Communicate and engage other stakeholders in their understanding and commitment as well.

    This includes a high degree of personal comfort with the community, church base, and faith language, which are central to that mission.

    Assist in developing and executing fundraising strategies.


    Assist the CEO in working with the board and other stakeholders in providing resources and information needed to make informed decisions.

    Writing letters of inquiry, grant proposals, progress reports, acknowledgment letters, and other correspondence to prospective foundations, corporations, and government agencies.

    Gather and prepare all ancillary materials to accompany grants (financial data, bios, required forms, etc.)

    Attending bidder's conferences as necessary

    Monitoring trends and opportunities for grant development.

    Write grants in and efficient and effective manner.

    Reports to the Director of Operations

    REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Either a BA/BS from a four-year college and two years of experience with grants and contracts. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.


    WRITING SKILLS Excellent writing and impeccable editing skills and demonstrated ability to write, edit and/or revise a range of technical communications.


    COMPUTER/SOFTWARE SKILLS & ABILITIES Solid computer skills and proficiency in word processing, data base management, spreadsheets, presentation software and Internet research tools.

    Travel and Evening & Weekend Hours Willing to work evening and weekend hours to attend functions and meetings.

    Graduation from an accredited college or university with a BA, BS, or MA degree in Sociology, Social Work, Management, Public or Business Administration, or in other relevant field.

    and (or) equivalent work experience.

    Minimum three years of experience working with adults and families of underserved population in a community and/or /faith-based environment.

    An equivalent of education and experience sufficient to obtain the necessary knowledge and skill to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be considered.


    Additional Requirements:

    Traveling:

    Possession of a valid State issued driver's license at the time of appointment is required and must own a vehicle to travel to trainings, meetings, and events.

    The position may require traveling to other parts of the state and must be flexible with traveling schedule.

    Knowledge of:

    Writing to secure grants from private, foundation, public, government, and corporate sources; government grant submission process; grants compliance; creation of budgets; faith based and community based service providers; the principles of public administration, organization, and management; methods of performing complex administrative, organizational and procedural analyses; computer applications.


    Ability to:

    independently research, analyze and make effective recommendations on programmatic, practices, procedures and problems; research, compile and analyze information; write reports in a logical, comprehensive, concise manner; prioritize workload efficiently, without direct instruction, to meet deadlines under changing conditions; exercise initiative; facilitate meetings with diverse participants; acquire subject matter expertise in grant project requirements and related field knowledge; initiate and develop efficient, cost-effective policies; prepare reports and present ideas orally and in writing; ability to work in a team setting.


    Skill in:

    Strategic planning of new programs; using a computer and related software applications; handling multiple tasks simultaneously; conducting research; preparing reports; communicating both orally and in writing sufficient to exchange or convey information; and to receive work direction.


    Flexibility of hours:
    The individual is expected to fulfill his/her job responsibilities beyond scheduled work hours as exempt staff. This may include community meetings and events in the evenings or weekends. As an exempt staff, the individual is also expected to participate in FACE's events which may occur outside of the regular business hours (e.g., Homeownership Fairs, The Lighting the Community Conference, FACE Board Meetings)

    Other requirements:
    Knowledge of Korean culture desired, or at minimum knowledge of working with underserved populations. Experience working with faith based organizations desired. Bilingual English/Korean a plus.
