    General Function

    The Center City Counseling Clinic (CCCC) Director coordinates all activities related to Clinic operations and assures compliance with all applicable city, state, and federal government regulations, the policies and procedures of the Counseling Program in the School of Mental Health and Behavioral Sciences, Missouri State University, and the standards of all appropriate professional accrediting agencies.

    This position is responsible for providing an environment in which faculty research may be conducted, and students may, under supervision, observe and participate in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of clients with psycho-emotional disorders, and other psycho-educational activities.

    The Clinic Director is accountable for fiscal management, staff management and development, delivery of effective services to clients, student practicum experiences and marketing efforts.

    In addition to overseeing the clinical and fiscal operations of the clinic, which serves as a primary training site for graduate counseling students, the clinic director also engages in teaching and clinical supervision.

    The Clinic Director is expected to serve in a manner consistent with the public affairs mission of the university, through the three pillars of ethical leadership, community engagement and cultural competence; and with teaching, research and service duties as detailed in the Missouri State University faculty handbook.


    Description of Primary Duties

    • Assures a strong counselor education professional identity, through their activities, i.e. association with and presentations to and publications through professional organizations such as ACA, AMHCA or ASCA and/or their affiliates and divisions, and an active engagement and willingness to comply with Council on Accreditation of Counselor-Education Related Programs (CACREP) standards.
    • Teaches graduate courses in counseling and provides student supervision as required by CACREP providing client care in accordance with American Counseling Association standards. Specific course assignments could include counseling skills, practicum, and internships, and/or other counseling courses. This position will provide live clinical supervision to master's students in our community-based counseling clinic
    • Directs and operates the clinic in compliance with the Counseling program, and CACREP accreditation standards, and assures compliance with applicable Missouri State University policies and procedures, and government regulations.
    • Assures sound fiscal management of the CCCC by preparing requested monetary and budget reporting and submitting appropriate documentation to the Bursars office and within guidelines established and provided by the Program Director, School Director, and Dean.
    • Demonstrates a commitment to working ethically and effectively with a wide range of human populations and presentations, through experience, teaching and/or publications/presentations. Facilitates a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
    • Contributes to the overall success of the CCCC and the Counseling Program by performing other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

    Education:

    A Doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision or related CACREP-accredited program or demonstrated full-time employment in a CACREP-accredited program prior to 2013 is required.


    Experience:

    Three years of clinical experience in counseling is required; demonstrated experience in counseling in mental health settings is required; one year of management, supervisory, and fiscal management experience is preferred.


    Licensure:
    Must hold or obtain Missouri state licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor within three months of employment.

    Skills:

    Effective oral and written communication skills, and effective computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet and database (Microsoft) are required.
