N. St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale Schools (ISD #622) - Provides communication links utilizing sign language interpreting or oral interpreting between hearing and deaf/hard of hearing individuals; and provides communication access for the deaf/hard of hearing students in the classroom, in lectures, and during the students' daily interactions with others.
- Reviews curriculums, lesson plans, videos, and instructional materials in order to facilitate interpreting services.
- Educates staff about the deaf/hard of hearing student needs and accessibility requirements for student success.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level
- Applicable principles and practices needed to support deaf/hard of hearing students;

Position Title: Interpreter
Assignment: District #622 -
Hours: 35 hours/week
Starting Salary: $27.11 per hour (plus $5,500/year stipend for Certified Interpreters)
Expected Starting Date: ASAP
Nature of Work:
Incumbents are responsible for facilitating communication between the deaf/hard of hearing students and staff and peers in the educational settings, and other activities.
Typical Class Responsibilities:
Associate degree (A.S., A.A.) or two-year technical certificate in Sign Language Interpreter.
Licensing Requirements:
Certifications recognized by RID and/or MN Department of Education preferred including CT, CI, NIC, NAD or EIPA.
Knowledge Requirements:
Skill Requirements:
Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and seeing.
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
