Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant plays a vital role in supporting the Controller in their role of oversight and financial management.
Responsibilities:
Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries.
Summarizes financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheet, profit and loss, and other statements.
Produces payroll by initiating computer processing; printing checks, verifying finished product.
Completes external audit by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors.
Avoids legal challenges by complying with legal requirements.
Secures financial information by completing database backups.
Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
Collaborate with other team members and departments to obtain necessary financial information and resolve discrepancies.
Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding financial transactions, records, and reports.
Provide support during audits by preparing documentation and assisting auditors with their inquiries.
Follow established accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accurate and reliable financial information.
Stay updated on relevant accounting regulations and best practices to ensure compliance.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field is preferred. Proven experience in accounting will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Proven experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably as an accounting clerk.
Experience working in multiple legal entities.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial industry procedures.
Proficiency in using accounting software and MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
