The Leibniz Institute for Regional Geography (IfL) is seeking a
librarian (100% TV-L E 9 b pay group 3) (m/f/d) to work in the Geographical Central Library and the Archive for Geography, starting on October 1, 2023.


The Leibniz Institute for Regional Geography (IfL) in Leipzig analyzes social processes from geographical perspectives and makes societal change visible.

It is the only non-university research institution for geography in the German-speaking world.

As a member of the Leibniz Association, the institute is funded by the Federal Republic of Germany and its states.


The Geographical Central Library is part of the research infrastructure of the IfL and provides literature for the institute's researchers, but also offers its services to the general public.

The Archive for Geography preserves the legacies of geographers and geographical institutions and also has an extensive collection of photos and images.


Your responsibilities

  • Cataloging of monographs in K10Plus and the local system
  • Verbal and classificatory indexing (Geography Thesaurus and RVK)
  • Organization of the library's exchange of publications
  • Organization of training for interns and apprentices
