    Title: Tool & Die Maker

    Location: Pioneer, Ohio

    Type: Full-time

    Shifts: 2nd and 3rd shift options

    Reports to: Tool & Die Supervisor

    Summary of the role:

    Examine specifications, organize metal supplies, set up and run machine tools, and build and fix dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools

    Main responsibilities:

    • Analyze blueprints, sketches, or models to plan operations for creating tools or assemblies.
    • Check dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts to ensure they meet specifications, using tools like calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
    • Imagine and calculate dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of assemblies, based on specifications.
    • Prepare and operate traditional or computer-controlled machine tools like lathes, milling machines, and grinders to shape parts accurately.
    • Adjust various parts to fit together correctly.
    • Assemble parts to create, repair, or adjust dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine and hand tools.
    • Test tools or dies to ensure they meet specifications, making any needed adjustments.
    • Check finished dies for smoothness, contour accuracy, and flaws.
    • Polish surfaces of parts or tools with scrapers, files, emery cloths, or grinders.
    • Carry out additional tasks as assigned by supervisors and TTD Leadership.
    • Halt production in case of unsafe parts, actions, or poor quality situations.

    Basic requirements:

    • Experience with manual lathes, mills, grinders
    • Stamping and welding experience
    • High School diploma or equivalent, technical school graduation preferred
    • Completion of a certified Apprenticeship program demonstrating tool usage experience and knowledge of machines and tools
    • 8 years of work experience if no apprenticeship
