    MDC Account Executive – Northern California

    (East Bay, Central Valley, Sacramento)

    Summary:

    MDC Interior Solutions is seeking an energetic and driven Account Executive to represent our industry-leading portfolio of wallcoverings, acoustic solutions, window shades, and art programs This role focuses on developing and growing relationships with the architectural and design community, end users, and commercial contractors throughout a well-established territory in Northern California (East Bay, Central Valley, Sacramento) & Northern Nevada (Reno) region.

    AE Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Manage the entire sales cycle, from prospecting and relationship building to presentations, pricing, and closing.
    • Identify and develop new business opportunities through calls, networking, and industry events.
    • Travel throughout the assigned territory (some overnight) to call on existing and prospective customers.
    • Present and demonstrate products, emphasizing design, performance, and sustainability features.
    • Partner closely with architects, designers, contractors, and end users to deliver tailored solutions.
    • Develop and maintain strong account relationships with consistent follow-up and service excellence.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to support project management, samples, pricing, and fulfillment.
    • Track business activity, prepare reports, and maintain accurate records in CRM systems.
    • Attend trade shows and industry events to represent MDC and expand brand awareness.
    • Investigate and resolve customer issues related to deliveries or service as needed.

    Qualifications:

    • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
    • Proven ability to collaborate effectively and thrive as part of a high-performing team.
    • Confident, professional presentation skills with a creative, design-oriented mindset.

    Education & Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree preferred; associate degree and/or relevant sales experience considered.
    • 2–3 years of B2B sales experience with a strong customer service orientation.
    • Experience in architectural products, interiors, or design-related industries a plus.
    • Proven success in developing new business and maintaining long-term client relationships.
    • Self-starter with a competitive drive, business acumen, and high degree of integrity.

    Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
    • Confident in using CRM/contact management systems (HubSpot).
    • Comfortable learning design or specification software tools as needed.

    Work Environment & Physical Demands:

    • Regular travel within the assigned territory required (some overnight).
    • Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds (samples, displays, etc.).
    • Typical work includes both office and field environments with moderate noise levels.

    Pay Transparency:

    In compliance with California's Pay Transparency Act (SB 1162), the annual base salary range for this position is $65K +Commission range of (20k-95k+) and potential annual bonus. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. MDC considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
