    Job Description

    Position Summary

    Mt. Gilead Camp and Conference Center is in need of a female candidate to take on the role of seasonal Head Cook for its all-girls Christian Summer Camp program. Reporting to the Camp Director, you will play a key role in the mission of Mt. Gilead Summer Camp by preparing tasty and healthy meals for our summer staff and campers. The Head Cook will also oversee the kitchen crew during the summer.

    Nestled in the heart of the Pennsylvania Poconos, Mt. Gilead has been offering an outstanding Christian girls' summer camp program for over 60 years. Campers engage in various activities like archery, swimming, riflery, drama, horsemanship, and canoeing in a friendly atmosphere focused on guiding girls to Christ and nurturing a strong relationship with Him. The camp experience includes family-style meals, sing-alongs, campfires, traditions, and fun activities that foster friendship and Christian fellowship, allowing girls to mature, make lasting memories, and form lifelong bonds.

    Job Summary

    We are on the lookout for a skilled female Summer Camp Cook to join our team at the all-girls summer camp. As a Summer Camp Cook, you will be in charge of designing creative menus, cooking delicious meals, and managing kitchen operations. The ideal candidate is seasoned, innovative, and a capable leader. If you have a love for cooking for large groups, we are interested in hearing from you.

    Responsibilities

    • Create unique menus based on seasonal ingredients and customer preferences
    • Manage kitchen activities
    • Supervise food preparation and presentation
    • Provide guidance and support to kitchen staff
    • Manage inventory levels and negotiate with suppliers for quality products at competitive prices
    • Adhere to all food safety standards and regulations (Serv Safe)

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma/GED
    • Prior culinary experience
    • ServeSafe or Food Handler's Certification OR Willingness To Be Certified
    • Advanced understanding of culinary techniques and recipes
    • Ability to thrive under pressure
    • Strong management and leadership abilities
