    Description


    Aleutian Pribilof Island Community Development Association (APICDA) is hiring for a full-time, year-round Grant Program Manager to manage APICDA's various grant programs.

    APICDA is a non-profit dedicated to strengthening local economies and building infrastructure to support commerce in six remote villages in the Aleutian-Pribilof region of Alaska.

    We focus our efforts on community-based initiatives, advocacy, vocational training, education and social programs that have been identified as high priorities.

    The APICDA board and staff work closely together to achieve our strategic objectives and leverage our resources for maximum benefit to our member communities.


    The Program Manager's responsibilities range from administering APICDA's grant and scholarship programs and the benefits thereof to carrying out special projects.

    The Program Manager will be knowledgeable about all APICDA's programs and the organization's mission to deliver program-based benefits to aid in sustainable communities.

    The Program Manager supervises Program Specialists; Community Liaison Officers (CLOs); and department interns. This Program Manager position reports directly to the Chief Program Officer (CPO).

    Essential Functions


    Program Management Responsibilities:


    Responsible for the management of the training and education programs, Community Development Grant program (CDGP), School Grant program, CLO program and Community Dividend, and is the primary contact for updating and maintaining the Community Development Plans for the CDGP.

    Leads the development of new programs and evaluates existing APICDA programs.

    Manages community outreach regarding APICDA's programs.

    Ensures programs are developed consistently with APICDA's goals and objectives and SOPs.

    Provides support to department managers in the development and creation of SOPs for programs not managed by this position.

    Proactively identifies ways to improve efficiency and efficacy of the Program department.


    Manages Community Activity Program through the CLOs activity selection, approves and orders supplies and assists with purchase and shipping as needed.

    Manages student care package program.

    Manages and maintains expense reports related to program budget. Assists supervisor with department budget, including developing the preliminary budget, formatting and any research required.

    Presents reports at APICDA Program Committee meetings and APICDA board meetings.


    Plans and coordinates community visits for department and provides support to company employees, as needed, when they travel to the region.

    Travels to APICDA communities to conduct meetings pertaining to APICDA programs.

    Develops and gathers information for APICDA newsletter and social media content.


    Stays up to date on current events that pertain to APICDA's communities, region, and the State of Alaska that may have an impact on APICDA programs and APICDA's mission.

    This includes participating as an APICDA representative in meetings, taskforces or committees as required.

    Represents program department in internal committees and taskforces at APICDA.

    Manages special projects assigned by CPO.

    Performs other duties as assigned.


    Supervisor Responsibilities:
    This position supervises the Program Specialist and is responsible for the position's performance management.

    This position supervises the CLOs and is responsible for the position's performance management.


    This position may supervise the Department Intern(s) depending on intern candidate availability and is responsible for the position's performance management.

    This position is responsible for hiring and training new Program department employees.


    Work Environment:
    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This position will be regularly required to travel to and operate from remote office locations. Travel to and from remote locations may be in small groups or individually.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and/or hear.

    The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; climb stairs; use hands and fingers to handle and/or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

    This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 50 pounds.


    Required Education & Experience:
    A bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.


    A minimum of three (3) years of experience working with and/or in remote Alaska and/or managing non-profit programs in Alaska.

    Equivalent education and training may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.

    Prior experience in the fishing industry, Alaska Native organizations, and/or grant program experience is preferred.


    Preferred Skills & Experience:
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Ability to effectively give public presentations.

    Skilled at coordinating high-volume complex meetings.

    Strong organizational skills, including the ability to set priorities, juggle multiple tasks, and organize time effectively.

    Ability to proactively anticipate needs and adjust processes and plans based on changing circumstances.

    Must possess outstanding interpersonal skills and demonstrate sound judgement and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive matters.

    Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft suite of products including Google Mail, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

    Have or ability to learn general knowledge of APICDA communities, geographical locations, fisheries, and tourism.

    Able to work professionally with confidential information.

    Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable under APICDA's insurance policy.


    Must be able to focus on detail without losing sight of the bigger picture, including monitoring and double-checking work and information for accuracy.


    A high standard of work and a conscientious approach to work with the ability to meet tight deadlines, anticipate needs and be proactive to resolve issues.

    Must possess a high degree of professionalism, tact, initiative, and diplomacy.

    Strong commitment to APICDA's mission.

    Pay is DOE.
