The Position:


East Bay Municipal Utility District's (EBMUD's) Wastewater Engineering Design Section is currently seeking an Assistant Engineer who is a motivated, energetic, team player with experience in the design of municipal wastewater facilities.


This individual will lead and support multi-discipline engineering design teams for upgrades and rehabilitation of EBMUD's leading-edge wastewater and recycled water facilities for projects ranging up to approximately $15M.

Projects may include waste-to-renewable-energy facilities and treatment, and pumping station and collection system upgrades as part of EBMUD's Wastewater Capital Improvements Program, budgeted at $395M over the next five years.

Flexible/hybrid work from home schedule may be available for some positions in this job classification.


The salary range is $11,214 per month increasing to $11,775, $12,364, $12,982 and $13,631 after 6, 18, 30, and 42 months, respectively.


Requirements:


  • A bachelor's degree in an engineering curriculum accredited by ABET or a California Engineer in Training Certificate.
  • Two years* of professional civil, electrical, mechanical, control systems, geotechnical, sanitary, or structural engineering experience, at a level comparable to or higher than EBMUD's Junior Engineer classification, after obtaining the education outlined above.
  • Possession of a valid California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
  • An advanced degree in an accredited engineering curriculum may be substituted for one year of the required experience

The Selection Process:


  • The probation period for this position is 12 months. For those holding civil service status the probation period is 6 months.
  • All employment offers are conditional, pending the results of a Live Scan background screening. All selected finalists must participate in the Live Scan background screening process to remain in consideration for EBMUD employment.
