    Role Description

    The Mid-Level Giving Officer is responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of current and prospective mid-level donors (defined as $1,000-$4,999) including cultivation, solicitation, and strategy as well as stewardship and data analysis.

    The Mid-Level Giving Officer creates opportunities for donors and prospects to become engaged with the SF SPCA mission and to learn about organizational programs that align with their giving interests. Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President with a dotted line to the Director of Major Gifts, this position also collaborates with the larger Development team and departments across the organization, including Marketing and Communications.

    The ideal candidate will be curious, independent and have experience with fundraising and be comfortable with direct donor outreach and closing gifts. Attention to detail, strong project management skills, and experience with CRM systems and databases are key qualities. Strong phone and writing skills are critical. A personal commitment to and passion for animals and animal welfare is essential.

    Core Responsibilities

    • Manages a tiered portfolio of current and prospective mid-level donors via strategic touch points, promoting thanking and timely solicitations, with an emphasis on retention and increased giving.
    • Meets quarterly and annual fundraising goals and tracks to other performance KPIs.
    • Attends and assists with SF SPCA programs, cultivation and stewardship events as necessary.
    • Assists in the creation and execution of donor solicitation strategies, proposals and materials and cultivation events as part of the Major Gifts team.
    • Ensures appropriate and consistent donor-centric communications in materials, stewardship and customer service interactions.
    • Educates self on SF SPCA programs and services and communicates this work as well as the organization's mission to donors.
    • Is present in person in office two to three days per week to participate in meetings and interact with other departments.
    Requirements
    • The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of experience in fundraising/development with increasing responsibility and experience managing a personal portfolio.
    • Proven track record of meeting budget goals.
    • Experience organizing and executing on cultivation events and preparation of solicitation and stewardship materials.
    • Proficiency with MS Office, Raiser's Edge, Asana and Salesforce a plus.
    • Excellent phone, writing and editing skills; attention to detail.
    • The candidate should be energetic, self-directed and assertive, flexible, creative and empathetic.
    Salary & Benefits

    The starting salary for this position depends on the depth and breadth of experience. The expected range is $85,000 - $90,000.
