**PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES**

Manage all aspects of the procurement of raw materials, packaging, MRO and associated services to include competitive bidding, analysis, source selection, purchase order creation, and supplier management.

Analyze global market developments for key commodities and develop strategic plans to mitigate adverse effects and take advantage of positive developments.

Perform gatekeeping functions consistent with requisition and purchasing authorization requirements.

Coordinate with Operations on ERP driven requirements to ensure material availability, price/cost visibility and assure compliance with inventory guidelines.

Coordinate with internal customers on the sourcing and purchase of non-ERP requirements to assure best value for Quanex while meeting customer needs.

Negotiate and maintain all terms and agreements with suppliers while adhering to Quanex and SOX guidelines.

Source materials in coordination with requesters to achieve best value through pricing, quality, functionality and lead time.

Manage on-time deliveries from suppliers and maintain/distribute sourcing metrics.

Verify and authorize invoices for payment.

Continuously prioritize activities and exercise independent judgment and discretion with minimal supervision.

Actively participate in Lean Six Sigma activities.

**NATURE AND SCOPE**

Quanex operates within a consolidating and maturing market that is strongly influenced by pricing pressures and foreign competition. To remain competitive and meet expectations on return of invested capital employees need to engage process oriented thinking tied to lean strategies. In addition to lean thinking, it is imperative that we identify methods to provide added value to our customers.

The Senior Buyer sets the tone and pace in this regard by leading his/her executive team in executing activities in support of Quanexs strategy. Responsible for supporting multiple plant operations through sourcing and procurement of materials and services by preparing and negotiating purchase orders and contracts.

A broad understanding of the fenestration industry is beneficial to successfully carry out the role of Senior Buyer. Additionally he/she must have excellent communication skills and be able to interact professionally with all levels within the organization and with external customers and suppliers. A Bachelors degree in business is required along with five years purchasing experience in a manufacturing experience. ERP system driven manufacturing experience with SAP experience preferred. Familiarity with advanced supply chain and material management principles required.
