    **Primary Responsibilities**

    Using planning data, place purchase orders with suppliers to support production and service requirements while complying with Purchasing International Standard Organization (ISO) procedures. Gain approval from appropriate management for special orders and major purchases. Work closely with suppliers to confirm their ability to meet delivery dates, and resolve any supply issues with support from the Sourcing Specialist. Provide forecasts and other relevant information required by suppliers to support company requirements. Monitor past due orders and work with suppliers, receiving and accounting to resolve issues.

    Monitor and adjust planning parameters to minimize inventory while providing high levels of service given lead time and reliability of supplier. Analyze actual demand, trends and forecasts, and adjust inventory plans accordingly. Identify forecast and demand plan issues, and work closely with the Master Schedulers and Demand Planners to resolve. Investigate causes of slow moving inventory and implement preventative action and disposition obsolete inventory in a cost effective manner.

    Monitor overdue parts and potential supply issues, and act with a high sense of urgency to resolve, working closely with the supplier, Sourcing Specialist, Service and production personnel. Be able to raise critical issues to management in an effort to obtain additional help expediting and to alert management to potential business interruptions. Investigate root cause of supply issues and work with appropriate company or supplier personnel to implement preventative action.

    Supervise the activities of or mentor other personnel. May monitor and ensure timely supply of materials, components, assemblies, processes, and services required to support efficient manufacturing operations and the shipment of customer service orders. Staff; including hiring, educating, developing, and discipline employees in compliance with company policy, applicable labor laws and good business practices. Promote lean principles through the implementation of Standard Work practices and where necessary, lean culture by coaching/sponsoring Six Sigma continuous improvement projects. Conduct annual Talent Development Discussions (TDD), assign individual goals and objectives as appropriate, complete annual wage reviews, create/revise job descriptions, and perform succession/retention planning.

    Identify areas within the department which we can proactively work to improve. Lead projects from identifying the issue, work with cross functional team to resolve, and through to implementation. Focus on streamlining our processes, inventory reduction activities, and logistics activities.

    Participate as part of a company cross functional team with supplier representatives for periodic reviews of supplier performance. Support Sourcing Specialists in the selection, development and recommendation of which companies should be added to the Purchasing Approved Supplier List (ASL) in conjunction with Sourcing Specialist and/or Senior Sourcing Specialist. Assist Sourcing Specialist in implementing purchasing programs with selected suppliers. Develop healthy business relationships with suppliers. Keep up to date supplier information and make periodic supplier site visits when required.

    Ensure that the correct pricing is used when issuing orders, including sizing orders to obtain optimum price breaks and minimal set up costs while maintaining acceptable inventory levels and minimizing obsolescence risk.

    Work with Supplier Quality Engineers, Inspectors, Engineers and the Sourcing Specialist on existing part problems that need immediate attention/containment to minimize impact to production schedules. Process routine Temporary Deviation Notices (TDNs) and Product Change Requests (PCRs) that do not impact product form, fit or function as required.

    Attend department, staff, production support, and product team meetings. Initiate and lead meetings to discuss scheduling and product status. Prepare periodic reports to inform managers of supply and inventory issues. Be able to fill in for the Buyers to support production when they are traveling on business and be a communication conduit between Suppliers, Purchasing and operations. Perform other duties as assigned.

    **Qualifications**

    Associate degree (Supply Chain or Business) plus 2-4 year related experience required. Bachelors degree in Business or Supply Chain Management, or two-year degree along with three to five years of prior experience in material control, planning or purchasing preferred.

    A firm understanding of Materials Requirement Planning (MRP), with Baan and/or SAP experience.

    Good computer experience, including excellent spreadsheet skills.

    Effective oral and written communication skills.

    APICS Certification, along with eight to ten years of extensive planning or related experience plus departmental management/supervision experience preferred.
