    Position Summary:

    The Office of Inclusive Excellence is deeply committed to creating an inclusive campus environment for all members of the New Jersey Institute of Technology community where a sense of belonging is fostered and sustained. The Office of Inclusive Excellence was implemented at NJIT in the Spring of 2023 under the leadership of the inaugural Chief Diversity Officer and is well positioned and resourced to be a valuable contributor to the NJIT campus community and its external partners. We achieve our mission through the collaboration and partnership with internal and external stakeholders to collectively work toward greater equity, inclusion and belonging for our diverse campus community.

    Reporting to the Director, the Associate Director for Inclusive Excellence will be
    responsible for the development, implementation, and assessment of experiences that support
    strategic diversity and inclusion initiatives across the university, with a
    particular focus on our diverse student body of undergraduate and graduate
    students.

    The Associate Director will collaborate with campus partners and some administrative leaders to influence policies, implement programs, and identify resources needed to create an inclusive environment for our diverse student population.

    This role is critical because it will provide direct student contact and engagement.


    Essential Functions:

    The Associate Director will be expected to lead with inquiry, integrity, and compassion while ensuring that the deliverables of the office are met.

    Some of the essential functions of this role include but are not limited to:


    • Develop

    and implement a comprehensive DEIB calendar of social and educational programming, with a specific focus on diversity, multiculturalism, inclusion, and social justice.


    • Create, manage, and plan programs that include but are not limited to NJIT's Courageous Conversations (Student Edition), all heritage month programs, MLK Celebration Program, Cultural Immersion Experience, etc.
    • Provide direct support to the Director on campus diversity engagement priorities as needed.
    • Partner with Student Life in the engagement of student organizations at NJIT and their advisors by providing guidance and support on topics related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
    • Support students in organizational efficiency and centering DEIB.
    • Serve as Chair/Co-Chair of the campuswide programming committees related to diversity and inclusion efforts.
    • Assist and/or lead major campus activities on behalf of OIE in partnership for NJIT major
    events such as New Student Orientation, Open House, etc.

    • Recommend new policies and revisions to existing policies that impact students.
    • May manage OIE Ambassadors.
    • In the absence of the CDO and Director, serve as the main point of contact for the office.
    • Manage student funding requests, inventory of OIE storage, and develop new procedures to ensure sustainable structures that enhance the process for students to engage with the office.
    • Lead and manage precommencement activities (BIPOC Graduation, Lavendar Graduation, etc.,).
    • Other duties as assigned

    Prerequisite Qualifications:

    - Graduate degree (Master's) in the humanities, social sciences, education, or STEM.

    • At least four years of leading programs and projects at a college or university.
    • Minimum of three years of experience working with college students in a cocurricular environment through civic engagement, student affairs, or academic affairs.
    • Ability to work independently, identify creative solutions to solve problems, work collaboratively in teams, and effectively manage change.
    • Proven ability to engage and collaborate effectively with diverse students, faculty, and leadership to bring about transformational change. Demonstrated experience in fostering positive intergroup and interpersonal relationships and community building.
    • Excellent leadership and communication abilities and demonstrated ability to establish, maintain and adjust priorities as circumstances warrant.
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion and demonstrate a high level of personal integrity.
    • Flexibility to accommodate work schedule demands which may include attendance at evening and/or weekend events.
    • Superior attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
    • Familiar with Microsoft Office (word, PowerPoint, excel) and other technology.
    • Demonstrated experience in fostering positive intergroup and interpersonal relationships and community building.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic and fastmoving environment.
    • Creative thinking and implementation.
    • At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position

    Preferred Qualifications:

    - Project/Program Management Certification

    • At least one year of leadership as a supervisor
    • Experience in program and data assessment
    • Experience in a STEM institution
    • Demonstrated ability to implement and identify best practices for diversity and inclusion.
    • Proven ability to develop curriculum and deliver impactful training and presentations
