    Senior Technical Advisor - Education in Emergencies

    The Senior Technical Advisor provides expert technical guidance and expertise to programs or portfolios.
    The Senior Technical Advisor spends a significant percentage of time (~40%) on business development. This may be higher or lower depending on the pipeline.

    The Senior Technical Advisor will participate in field assignments that may include providing targeted technical assistance to a project, serving in Acting capacity for technical or management roles, including COP or DCOP, representing Creative at high-level meetings with clients, external stakeholders, and government officials, and conducting capture trips to support proposal development initiatives.

    The Senior Technical Advisor may serve as a Project Manager or Director for a project, depending on interest, availability and experience.

    Field SMEs or Technical Leads from projects may have dotted reporting lines to this position.

    This Senior Technical Advisor should have a focus on Education in Emergencies and extensive experience working in contexts of crisis and conflict from project start-up, implementation, and closeout.

    Ideally this STA also has experience along the humanitarian/development nexus and can serve as a thought leader in this field writing blogs and attending events to promote Creative's work in this space.


    Reporting & Supervision:
    The Senior Technical Advisor reports to the Senior Technical Director in the Education Division.
    Serves as a subject matter expert in a senior technical role with capture, programmatic, representational, and operational duties for a program (or programs) to assure continued portfolio development within that technical area
    and provides technical input for project design and implementation; and monitoring contract compliance
    Participates in capture initiatives, including travel to the field
    Develops and maintains strong working relationships with partner and/or donor organizations as well as developing a network of technical experts
    Serves as a regular point of contact with field staff, maintaining strong relationships and communication between field and HQ staff to support project needs as they arise
    Prepares technical documents for submission to the client
    Contributes to Creative's thought leadership in their given speciality.

    Bachelor's degree and 12 years of relevant work experience or Master's degree and 10 years of relevant work experience in Education in Emergencies settings.

    Proven expertise in strategic planning for crisis and conflict responses, and program implementation in complex and challenging environments.
    Experience serving in a technical advisory role and/or field research role as a Senior Technical Advisor, Lead Field Researcher, DCOP, Regional Program Manager, Deputy Country Representative or Office Director with technical responsibilities as an LTTA or STTA
    Demonstrated knowledge of client priorities and preferences in education in crisis and conflict contexts
    Demonstrated expertise in MS Office
    Ability and willingness to travel (destination may include post-conflict countries)
    Excited about working on new business development activities and proposal writing
    Demonstrated experience writing USAID proposals
    Previous experience managing, coaching, and strengthening the technical capacity of US and international staff
    Experience conducting research, data management, and statistical analysis
    Fluency in a second language (Arabic, French, and/or Spanish).
