    Process Safety Engineer - Baton Rouge/New Orleans, Louisiana

    AcuTech is growing rapidly and is seeking a

    Process Safety Engineer

    in the vicinity of greater Baton Rouge or New Orleans, Louisiana .

    Candidates would join a highly respected team of industry leading process safety and risk management experts on challenging projects for many of the world's leading corporations.

    Candidates for this position must already live in or around the Baton Rouge/New Orleans area, as this position does not offer relocation benefits.


    What You'll Do:


    As part of AcuTech's Process Safety Management team, you will work directly with clients on projects spanning multiple aspects of process safety and risk management.

    Successful candidates will proactively apply engineering, process safety, and problem-solving skills to meet client safety and business objectives, while seeking out leadership and growth opportunities.

    Candidates must have high technical acumen, be self-motivated, independent, organized, able to work effectively under direction of senior engineers, and handle multiple work assignments and projects.

    Initial work assignments will be on site performing process safety engineering work at a chemical plant, comprised of assisting in PHA's, incident investigations, MOC, and various other process safety management needs.


    What's Required:
    BS/MS in related engineering field (chemical, electrical, mechanical, fire protection, safety) or associated science degree.
    1-7 years' experience professional experience Process Engineering or Process Safety.

    Self-motivated, independent, organized, able work effectively under direction of senior engineers, handle multiple work assignments and projects and seek professional growth and development.

    Relevant experience in process safety management; health, safety and environment (HSE); or related experience in process or engineering design environment, manufacturing operations, and/or consulting environment.

    Self-motivated, independent, strong leadership and organizational skills.
    Excellent English verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and client service.
    Strong analytical, problem-solving, and facilitation skills and a consultative approach in supporting customer projects.
    What's Preferred
    Ability to develop consulting business, including developing proposals and making presentations.
    Experience in developing, implementing, or managing PSM programs
    Experience in developing, writing, and implementing PSM plans, procedures, design philosophies, design bases, engineering specifications, standard operating procedures

    Experience developing and evaluating/auditing PSM systems and advising management at all levels of the organization to effect positive change to operational excellence.

    As an alternative to PSM experience, experience in process engineering role in chemical plant or refinery is also accepted
    Experience or expertise in PSM technical services such as:
    Process hazard analyses (PHA), and risk assessments, or related studies, such as HAZID, What-If, HAZOP, FMEA, and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA)
    Quantitative Risk Assessment including QRA studies, fault tree/event tree analysis, facility siting studies, fire hazard, explosion, and toxic modeling

    Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), based on recognized knowledge of IEC61511 and related standards, including Safety Integrity Level (SIL) Assignment, SIL Verification, and Safety Requirement Specification (SRS) development.
