What role you will play in our team

We are looking for experienced Senior Chemical Process Engineers to join our team in various capacities within the Baton Rouge Oil Refinery.

Our Senior Chemical Process Engineers (Complex Engineers) hold pivotal roles in ensuring the smooth operation of our plants and spearheading enhancements in safety, production, and reliability within a collaborative team setting. In this position, you will provide senior-level process expertise, driving technical innovation across business units.

These engineers are chiefly responsible for setting long-term performance objectives for units, troubleshooting, and supporting daily operations.

What you will do

• Serve as the primary technical authority on the business team by:
  • Guiding junior engineers on design practices, unit health monitoring, and troubleshooting
  • Offering support for abnormal and non-routine operations, including unit Turnarounds
  • Participating in devising long-term vision and strategy for product line enhancements
  • Coordinating and designing plant testing as well as product trials
  • Acting as a senior figure to establish clear objectives, align priorities for the technical team, and influence decision-making
  • Driving solutions and influencing others without direct authority
• Collaborate within a team environment involving other engineering disciplines, operations, and mechanical staff, and engage with corporate technology support
  • Ability to liaise with third-party vendors to optimize costs and develop solutions
• Take on the role of a process safety expert on the business team, leading Hazard and Operability Reviews (HAZOPs) and Risk Assessments by formulating closure plans and risk mitigation strategies
  • Lead/support incident investigations as a technical lead
• Support the development and execution of various capital projects to enhance profitability or mitigate safety, health, and environmental risks
• Provide on-site assistance during plant startups, shutdowns, or disturbances
• Demonstrate conviction and assertiveness to ensure productive interactions between the business team and corporate technology support for optimal outcomes

About you

Skills and Qualifications

• B.S. Chemical Engineering
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in Downstream Oil and Gas Refining

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience

• Experience in process design
• Familiarity with advanced control strategies/optimization software
• Proficiency in RBI practices (corrosion damage mechanisms/mitigations, saltation, etc)
• Experience with risk assessment and HAZOP
• Understanding of safety relief limits (modelling and evaluations)
• Familiarity with modeling software (PROII, ASPEN, etc)
• Knowledge of Kinetic Modelling (SOL, KBC Profimatics, etc)
