- Ensures quality standards are met and serves as the main resource for Bangor Public Health and Community Services' Maine Prevention Network (MPN) grant, which provides the Penquis Public Health District's primary prevention efforts for tobacco and substance use prevention, and health eating active living promotion.
- Develops processes and procedures for MPN district participants to follow regarding grant-related work (e.g. tracking, documenting, reporting).
- Leads monthly meetings with Maine CDC staff, coordinates responses and follow up action(s) from these meetings and provides quality checks to ensures actions are completed.
- Liaison for all Penquis District MPN work, coordinates district meetings and efforts to find efficiencies, and leverages the work within content areas.
- Directs and influences strategic vision with Penquis MPN leadership regarding tobacco, substance use prevention and HEAL content areas, and coordinates with MPN peers throughout the state to carry out the vision.
- Provides content expertise to the MPN teams and supports the strategic vision of each MPN team.
- Works with Health Promotion Manager, Substance Use Prevention and Healthy Eating Active Living Team Lead, and Grants Accounting Specialist to create and manage budgets.
- Oversees development of workplans, logic models, assessments, success stories and other programmatic deliverables.
- Collects, analyzes, and compiles programmatic reports from district staff and presents to Health Promotion Manager/team leads for final review.
- Supports financial reporting and tracking time on specific grants.
- Provides support in onboarding and training new employees, at the organization and district level.
- Oversees the development and implementation of district-wide quality improvement and health equity efforts.
- Provides education to community leaders, key stakeholders and policy makers on best practices in chronic disease prevention and health inequities.
- Supports advocacy efforts to improve outcomes of the grant.
- Manages all MPN subcontracts.
- Promotes positive relationships between and among Bangor Public Health and Community Services and all potential collaborating organizations.
- Participates as a Health Promotion team member.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in community/public health desired.
- Prior experience in the preparation, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of federal and state grants preferable.
- Experience in health promotion, public health, and/or harm reduction.
- Experience creating and/or facilitating collaborations for implementing prevention strategies.
- Understanding principles of health communication (including social marketing), determinants of community health, environmental strategies and building local capacity.
- Must possess ability to plan, coordinate and manage with strong organizational skills; cultivate and manage key relations/stakeholders, as well as lead and facilitate group process; effectively work independently and as a part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Build logical approaches to address problems or opportunities; manages the situation at hand by drawing on own knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary; approaches this analysis with an unbiased, impartial view.
- Ability to work independently and to be self-directed within the scope of a project.
- Ability to work with related state and/or federal agencies and to ensure project requirements are successfully attained.
- Related skills of good time management, managing deadlines, and good team relationships are essential.
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
- Pay range of $27.33 to $36.70 per hour based on 37.5-hour/week schedule, commensurate with qualifications and experience

Job Summary
This full-time grant-funded position will be the primary contact for the Maine Prevention Network (MPN) grant, a large longer-term (up to ten years) grant supporting health promotion in Penobscot and Piscataquis counties (Penquis Public Health District).
The MPN Coordinator will coordinate MPN tobacco, substance use prevention, and healthy eating/active living workplans, reporting, and will work to create efficiencies and connection within the organization, district, and state.
Due to the nature of grant funding, this position is expected to be needed until the end term of the grant, or for approximately eight (8) years (until The grant, however, may be ended sooner or renewed at the discretion of the funding source and/or the City.
