    Description


    This recruitment is to fill one full-time permanent Environmental Engineer position at either an EE2 In-Training or EE3 level, depending upon qualifications.

    If selected to enter the EE2 in-training level, they will advance to an EE3 after completing the in-training plan.

    The plan is intended to assure that upon completion, and within 12 months of the employment start date, they will possess a Professional Engineer license and working knowledge of all program areas for which an Environmental Engineer 3 will have responsibility in the Wastewater Management Section (WWMS).

    This position provides direct oversight and technical assistance for Large On-site Sewage System (LOSS) throughout Washington State.

    Duties include but are not limited to:
    Perform engineering and compliance tasks for permit renewal and oversight.
    Assist with annual LOSS permit issuance by reviewing reports and developing permit conditions.
    Review required submittals such as engineering evaluations and provide clear feedback to permittees.
    Collaborate with system owners and engineers to meet DOH standards.
    Conduct field inspections of LOSS and provide technical assistance to permittees.
    Prepare compliance documents for violations in collaboration with the Compliance Specialist.
    Perform detailed reviews of engineering reports and approve designs when appropriate.
    Provide technical consultation on groundwater and surface water protection issues.
    Offer expertise on scientific and technical matters related to LOSS to management and other agencies.

    WA. Telework (mobile work) is currently expected and will include field visits near Spokane, WA as needed.

    Required in-office work is rare and would be scheduled in advance.

    The Environmental Public Health (EPH) division aims to prevent health hazards and promote healthy environments where people live, work, and play.

    The Office of Environmental Health & Safety (OEHS) strives to reduce human exposure to various environmental hazards and disease pathogens in Washington state.

    The Wastewater Management Section (WWMS) ensures safe treatment of domestic sewage and water reclaimed from wastewater, providing oversight and technical assistance for onsite sewage systems statewide.

    EE3 Level:
    $6510- $8758 Monthly

    Option 1 EE3:
    A Master's degree with major study in one of the following engineering fields:
    sanitary, water resource, civil, geotechnical, environmental, chemical, mechanical, or related field;

    Option 2 EE3:
    A Bachelor's degree with major study in one of the following engineering fields:
    sanitary, water resource, civil, geotechnical, environmental, chemical, mechanical, or related field.
    Must hold a Professional Engineering License valid in the State of Washington.

    EE2 (EE3 in training) Level:
    $5615- $7552 Monthly

    Option 1 EE2:
    A Master's degree with a major study in one of the following engineering fields:
    sanitary, water resource, civil, geotechnical, environmental, chemical, mechanical, or related field;

    Option 2 EE2:
    A Bachelor's degree with a major study in one of the following engineering fields:
    sanitary, water resource, civil, geotechnical, environmental, chemical, mechanical, or related field.
    Must hold an Engineer-In-Training certificate valid in the State of Washington.

    Must be able to obtain a Professional Engineering License valid in the State of Washington within 12 months of hiring.
