We are currently seeking an Associate Creative Executive to join our Burbank, CA team and help support the Creative Development process.


The Associate Creative Executive reports to the Director of Development and takes direction from DoD, Associate Producer and the feature and series projects' point Creative Executive in a highly team-oriented environment.


Overall Responsibility


The Associate Creative Executive role supports the Creative Executives with the early development process for animated theatrical feature films and Disney+ streaming content that results in the Walt Disney Animation Studios' upcoming release slate.

This position works on assigned projects to execute the day-to-day process of filmmakers as they work to articulate and develop their feature film and long
- & short-form series ideas, from sourcing through "greenlight". Duties include researching identified areas of focus that support projects' world & characters; supporting writer searches to match the sensibility of the projects & filmmakers and the filmmaker-driven, collaborative culture of Disney Animation; and supporting the structure and process of story development and pitch presentations.


Main Responsibilities

  • Support the Creative Executives, Director and Associate Producer in their strategy driven roles by being a thought partner and resource when information needs to be tracked or updated in appropriate documentation
  • Sources and identifies new talent, diverse, emerging & veteran, using traditional and nontraditional means, to match with filmmakers' & project needs
  • Maintain a comprehensive and wellorganized writer database covering samples, credits, script notes, meeting notes, representation, and other relevant information
  • Execute identified research initiatives to integrate into story development
  • Provide creative support in the development process, which includes: Participating in meetings with creative talent and internal partners; expectation is to both be able to take clear notes & build presentations that inform the creative process, and provide input in the room
  • Attends creative feedback sessions on pitches, screenings, story, and notes to learn & develop story structure & storytelling skills
  • Develops, establishes, and maintains relationships with creative community and agents from a range of creative disciplines, particularly writers
  • Assist in sourcing of story consultants for projects both in development and in production and maintain consultant tracking database
  • Interacts with peers, managers, and internal business partners to exchange semicomplex information related to assigned projects
  • Manage creation, updates & tracking of critical strategic documentation for the team including: project folders, written materials, notes, research, milestones & other documents
  • Handle collection & delivery of all materials for writer credit determination process
  • Track & maintain list of competitive development projects across the industry
  • Working daily with development team to ensure smooth processes are in place for overall projects' workflow
Basic Qualification

  • Solid understanding of screenplay structure, character, and analysis
  • Experience in script reading and analysis
  • Knowledge of film/tv/theater/entertainment industry, and strong interest in animation
  • Ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with all levels of creative talent and management, and with diverse personalities and work styles, is crucial
  • Flexibility, professionalism & ability to prioritize and organize multiple and diverse demands in a fastpaced and dynamic creative team environment
Preferred Qualification

  • Strong time management and notetaking skills
  • Ability to learn new technologies
  • 2+ years experience in supporting story development or equivalent work experience is required
