We are looking for "Soft Skills" which include communication (spoken and written) as well as a familiarity with technology, a passion to help people with their technology struggles, and an educator's mindset. This position builds on the education and experience to become a fully functional Technology Support Specialist, which is our base position.

    Job Description Summary: The Technology Support Specialist position is part of the Technology Consultant job class and is both important and foundational. The skills and experiences gained as a Technology Support Specialist continue to be referenced and used as employees progress to more senior levels within the job class. The skills exercised by a Technology Support Specialist during the course of solving technical and business oriented issues are the reasons Big Fish Technology remains in business while building and maintaining an excellent reputation.

    A Technology Support Specialist provides support by evaluating, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all manner of technology related hardware and software to ensure optimal performance. Represented technologies include but are not limited to:

    • Computers
    • Printers, copiers, multi-function printers
    • Servers and related technologies
    • Network routers and switches
    • Wired and wireless network technologies
    • Smart phones, PDAs, and other mobile technologies
    • Internet access services
    • Infrastructure wiring and components

    A Technology Support Specialist assesses and recommends technology solutions by evaluating and understanding the clients' business environment and needs. It is a very broad-based position where growth in both technical and business acumen is expected.

    Big Fish Technology provides support and services nationally. Consequently, Technology Support Specialists perform in a number of physical settings including, but not limited to:

    • Big Fish Technology Operations Office
    • Personal home office
    • Client offices for both short-term and regularly scheduled, rotational engagements

    Depending on the support situation and contractual obligations, local travel is a given, as is partial, full-day and even overnight travel. The latter happens much less frequently.

    After a short initial training and mentoring period, work is performed with a medium amount of independence. Performance is evaluated by frequent reviews of work in progress. Supervision of assigned work varies depending on the size, scope and complexity of the task. The Technology Support Specialist is also part of a team, helping foster trusted-advisor relationships and assisting clients in realizing value from their relationship with Big Fish Technology.

    Essential Job Functions Summary:

    • Receive and respond to incoming calls, support requests, and/or e-mails
    • Maintain, document, analyze, troubleshoot, and repair computer systems, hardware, computer peripherals, and other technologies
    • Provide on-site support and service on an as-needed basis as well as part of a regularly scheduled, rotational basis
    • Perform as a client surrogate for vendor management purposes
    • Support and maintain user account information including rights, security and systems groups
    • Communicate with customers to keep them apprised of the status of requests, projects, tickets, etc
    • Perform structured wiring repairs and punch downs
    • Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
    • Maintain accurate records of projects, tasks, and time by utilizing Big Fish Technology internal systems
    • Ensure confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information by adhering to Big Fish Technology security policies
    • Adhere to Big Fish Technology software licensing policies and practices

    Essential Job Skills Summary:

    • Possess a four-year college degree
    • 5 years of practical experience
    • Experience with ConnectWise Manage and ConnectWise IT247 with ScreenConnect
    • Possess a solid understanding of computer networking
    • Demonstrate ability to meet deadlines and prioritize workloads
    • Possess and exercise attention-to-detail abilities
    • Exercise excellent follow-up skills
    • Capacity to work semi-independently in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment
    • Possess a bias for action and an ability to deal with ambiguity
    • Demonstrate a positive and mature sense of responsibility
    • Excel in a team environment; excellent team player capable of learning and sharing knowledge in a team environment
