Summary This position is in the Department of Technology Services, Policy and Resource Management Division in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities The incumbent of this position will provide staff support to the Judicial Conference Committee on Information Technology and the Information Technology Advisory Council (ITAC).

Working with the principal staff to the IT Committee and the ITAC, the incumbent will conduct research, analysis, and writing on policy, management, and program issues affecting the judiciary's national IT program.

The ideal candidate has experience in explaining and writing about technical issues to a non-technical audience, excellent writing and analytical skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, and a strong sense of customer service.

The incumbent will interact and discuss important issues with staff throughout the Department of Technology Services, the Administrative Office, and the courts, as well as judges who serve on the IT Committee.

Duties of the position include but are not limited to:

Drafting and editing policy-related white papers for consideration by the Judicial Conference of the United States and other non-technical audiences.

Providing staff support to IT Committee and ITAC, including drafting meeting agendas and reports, preparing meeting materials, and supporting meeting logistics.

Coordinating with staff to other Judicial Conference committees on cross-cutting issues and initiatives.

Assisting with updates to the IT section of The Guide to Judiciary Policy, including researching policy issues, drafting new and revised policies, processing updates as policies are added or revised, and reviewing policies for consistency across the national IT program.

Conducting management studies and other analyses related to the judiciary's IT program. Requirements Conditions of Employment CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT All information is subject to verification.

All new AO employees are required to identify a financial institution for direct deposit of pay before appointment.

You will be required to serve a trial period if selected for a first-time appointment to the Federal government, transferring from another Federal agency, or serving as a first-time supervisor. Failure to successfully complete the trial period may result in termination of employment.

If appointed to a temporary position, management may have the discretion of converting the position to permanent depending upon funding and staffing allocation.

This requirement is according to the AO Classification, Compensation, and Recruitment Systems which include interpretive guidance and reference to the OPM Operating Manual for Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions.

Specialized Experience:

Applicants must have at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience which is in or directly related to the line of work of this position.

Specialized experience is demonstrated experience drafting and editing policy-related documents and position papers, and in conveying complex information to non-technical audiences.

Desired, but not required:
