- Actively support and promote the research direction and scientific collaborations of current and future faculty at the Brain Institute.

Chapman University invites applications for the position of Director, Institute for Interdisciplinary Brain and Behavioral Sciences, with its headquarters at the Rinker Health Science campus, in Irvine, CA. This is a tenured faculty position at the rank of Full Professor. Chapman University's Institute for Interdisciplinary Brain and Behavioral Sciences was founded in 2019. Since then, the Institute has leveraged significant investments in its physical and intellectual resources to emerge as an internationally respected center for investigating the science underlying free will, intentionality and consciousness. The Institute is now entering the next phase of growth, with the goal of becoming an internationally recognized interdisciplinary hub for researchers and specialists working at the intersections of psychology, psychiatry, neuroscience, neurobiology, philosophy (of mind), computation, artificial intelligence, cognitive science, information processing and other emerging areas of inquiry broadly related to the field of neuroscience. At the same time, the Institute is poised to bring together researchers from across Chapman University, at both the Rinker Health Science campus and the Orange campus, to become a catalyst for growth in neuroscience research in diverse areas such as pain, human performance, aging brain aging, cognitive decline and Alzheimer's disease, developmental origins of mental health, and artificial intelligence, among others, while maintaining its presence in consciousness-related topics. Applicants from all areas of cognitive neuroscience research are welcome. Chapman University is in the heart of Orange County, one of Southern California's most diverse and vibrant regions.
