- Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
- Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
- Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections while maintaining the general ledger.
- Coordinates with software vendors to maintain accounting software systems; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.
- Manages the purchasing and invoicing system.
- Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
- Assist the assistant controller with internal and external audits and tax returns to ensure compliance.
- Analyze financial information and summarize financial status.
- Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending.
- Participate in financial standards setting and in the forecast process.
- Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
- Support month-end and year-end close process.
- Document and log all journal entries to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
- Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that logically relate to the position.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to read and analyze financial reports.
- Knowledge of Jenzabar software.
- Attention to detail and adaptability to a changing environment is extremely important as well as dependability.
- Moderate physical activity. Requires handling objects of average weight up to fifty (50) pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
- At least one year's experience in accounting, finance, or related field in lieu of a degree.
- Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule that may include working nights and weekends. (if applicable)
