    Weigel Broadcasting Co. is a family-owned media company based in Chicago, Illinois. The company owns and operates national television networks, as well as local broadcast stations throughout the country. Weigel is the leader in the multicast television network space with MeTV, Memorable Entertainment Television, the number-one rated and distributed multicast network, as well as the Movies Network in cooperation with the Fox Television Stations, the "Catchy Comedy" network, the H&I - Heroes & Icons Network and the Start TV Network in association with the CBS Television Stations, and Story Television Network. Weigel produces the original network TV programs Toon In With Me, Svengoolie and Collector's Call. Weigel's local stations include CBS, ABC, The CW, MyNet and Telemundo network affiliates.     News Producer

    ABC57 News is looking for a journalist driven by a passion for the public's right to know. The ideal candidate should understand that producers have a responsibility as gatekeepers. They should also have strong writing skills, time management abilities, and a creative mind. ABC57 is an award-winning newsroom focused on delivering impactful local news and storytelling. We are committed to gathering responsible, meaningful stories that make a difference in our community, not just "content." We expect our producers to be kind, collaborative team players in the newsroom.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    Brings story ideas and leads to the newsroom

    Can produce a 30-minute newscast on their own or more if needed

    Adheres to management's guidance on editorial decisions

    Writing original, factual scripts for broadcast based on original reporting, news releases, wire copy, or other credible sources

    Communication with fellow producers, the desk, field crew, directors, and management about the plan for your newscast

    Communication with MMJs and anchors about story angles

    Responsible for making up to the minute technical and editorial decisions

    Builds newscasts with a creative and entertaining use of studio shots, live shots, graphics, and other elements

    Writes effective teases for maintaining viewership

    Other duties, as assigned

    Requirements:

    Strong computer literacy

    Knowledge of rundown software preferred (i.e. iNews or ENPS)

    Can work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

    A decisive nature and ability to make quick, good judgment calls

    -Must be willing to work late nights or early mornings, and sometimes weekends

    Proficiency in writing, spelling, grammar, and the English language

    Communicates with colleagues often and in a clear manner
