    Lead Tool Maker Location:
    Temecula, CA Shift: 1st

    Shift Pay:
    $30 - $32hr DOE Summary The Lead Tool Maker is responsible for producing and maintaining high-quality tools, machinery, and fixtures that cut and form metal or other materials. This position requires expertise in tool design, fabrication, repair, and modification. The Lead Tool Maker will oversee a team of Tool Makers and collaborate with cross-functional departments to ensure efficient tooling operations. Additionally, the Lead Tool Maker will utilize advanced machining equipment and techniques to achieve precise results. Essential Functions

    • Lead the fabrication of molds, fixtures, and related tools, ensuring accuracy and adherence to specifications. Emulate existing parts and utilize appropriate measuring devices and equipment for creating new tooling or modifying existing tooling.
    • Collaborate with engineering and design teams to fabricate components for modern precision molds, based on existing parts.
    • Oversee the fabrication of tools, fixtures, and other components as required, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship.
    • Set up and operate advanced Tool Room equipment, including NC milling machines, surface grinders, sinker EDM, and lathe, to build, repair, revise, and service molds, fixtures, and related tools. Maintain close tolerances during machining processes. Perform basic repairs and preventative maintenance on machine shop equipment.
    • Ensure proper cleaning, polishing, and reassembly of molds, fixtures, and related tools before production runs, following established procedures and timelines.
    • Lead maintenance, repairs, and modifications on injection molds, addressing any issues efficiently and effectively.
    • Monitor inventory levels of shop tools and supplies, and promptly notify the Molding Manager of any required replenishments.
    • Ensure projects are completed within the quoted time and material limits. Communicate any anticipated delays or budget variances to the Molding Manager.
    • Uphold strict adherence to shop safety procedures and consistently utilize personal injury protection. Competencies

    Thoroughness:

    • High Level of Attention to Detail: Exhibit a keen eye for detail, consistently delivering work of the highest quality. Required Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates a plus. Knowledge of sinker EDM, NC, grinders and manual equipment is necessary. Must be an experienced Tool Maker. Must have a California driver's license and be able to become certified to operate a forklift.
