Job Title: Financial Aid Assistant at XYZ University
Description of Duties:
- Provide excellent customer service in person, by phone, and via email.
- Assist students with their financial aid applications online and in person.
- Review documents from applicants to ensure accuracy and request additional documentation if necessary.
- Maintain student financial aid records in accordance with federal and state regulations.
- Offer guidance to students and families on financial aid options and eligibility requirements.
- Process incoming verification documents and prepare for the awarding process.
- Analyze and recommend changes to documents used in the information collection process.
- Handle Tuition Assistance documents from external agencies and verify financial aid.
- Aid in processing Tribal Scholarships.
- Assist with document imaging for student records.
- Help with Federal Student loan Programs.
- Act as a link between departments and external customers to resolve daily issues.
- Engage in outreach and educational programs to enhance financial literacy and awareness of financial aid opportunities.
- Report any irregular activities by students related to their financial aid applications.
- Correspond with students via writing, in person, or over the phone about outstanding documents for their FAFSA completion.
- Stay informed on federal and state regulations and updates in financial aid policies.
- Contribute to the creation and enforcement of financial aid policies, procedures, and guidelines following federal, state, and institutional regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year of relevant experience in an academic setting.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Basic math and data entry proficiency.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Capability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs. and reach above the shoulder.
- Comfort with extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping.
Desired Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of related experience in an academic institution.
