The Department of Transportation is currently seeking candidates for a Digital Design Delivery Coordinator role within the AEC Applications unit at our Headquarters in Newington.

THE ROLE:

In this position, you will act as a liaison between design and construction teams to facilitate the transfer of design information to enhance CTDOT's Digital Design Delivery implementation. You will assist construction inspectors in utilizing GPS Inspection equipment for streamlined quantity measurements and adherence to design specifications. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with various design disciplines to support CTDOT's BIM Execution Plan and ensuring that data-driven designs are comprehensive and suitable for construction purposes. As a Digital Design Delivery Coordinator, you will be involved in the management of GPS Inspection equipment, offering training to construction inspectors, developing procedures for equipment usage, and converting design files into a construction-friendly format using OpenRoads Designer. Additional duties comprise:

Developing GPS Inspection procedures
Ensuring data-driven designs are construction-ready
Providing training and support for construction inspectors
Integrating GPS inspection tools with AASHTOWare Project
Maintaining knowledge of design and construction software
Researching new technologies
Contributing to the development and implementation of design tools and services

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

This role within the Department of Transportation and the Connecticut Airport Authority involves overseeing a team of employees, executing complex engineering tasks, and managing various aspects of engineering projects in fields such as bridge design, maintenance, transportation planning, and more.

Responsible for supervising lower-level engineers, conducting intricate design work, overseeing field inspections, exploring materials used in construction, providing technical advice, reviewing drainage designs, coordinating electrical projects, and serving as a key advisor in engineering matters. KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

Requires substantial knowledge of transportation engineering principles, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, effective communication abilities, and proficiency in information systems and technologies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 3 years of transportation engineering experience. Specialized experience at a professional level is necessary, along with relevant licensure or certifications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with Bentley CONNECT Software
Familiarity with Trimble software
Expertise in AASHTOWare Project
Skills in design and construction of transportation projects
Proficiency in troubleshooting software and technical issues
Experience with GPS Inspection techniques and Geographic Information Systems
Ability to deliver presentations and manage projects efficiently
Passion for technology and continuous learning

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

This role may involve holding a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's license and occasional travel.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Exposure to construction environments and various weather conditions may present some physical risks or discomfort.
