    Work Setting:
    OnsiteSchedule: There are two shifts available, which includes the weekends:1. Tuesday
    • Thursday, 7:00am 3:30pm and Friday-Saturday, 10am 6:30pm2.
    Sunday - Thursday, 11:00am- 7:30pm

    Pay Range:
    $23.18/hour

    Total Compensation:

    Position Overview:

    Life-changing moments start hereVolunteer Coordinators have a critical role in coordinating volunteers to shelter operations for asylum seekers who have been released into the United States by the Department of Homeland Security.

    This role will help you gain experience in respite sheltering, volunteer recruitment, volunteer management, and volunteer retention.

    You will walk away from each day having invested in the lives of asylum-seekers while learning about border policies and their impact on vulnerable families and individuals from around the world.

    Volunteer Coordinators are responsible for recruiting, on-boarding, training, compliance, retaining volunteers and maintaining volunteer relationships.

    This process includes managing volunteer information with confidentiality, coaching volunteers through difficult interactions or experiences, ensuring volunteers have completed necessary registration steps, and confirm volunteer shifts are filled to support the overall operation.


    Responsibilities:
    Coordinate and participate in recruitment of volunteers to fit these roles using a variety of resources and techniquesAssess the need for volunteers through collaboration with shelter leadershipUtilize an online volunteer management software platform to confirm volunteer shift registrationEmail/text/call volunteers to confirm that they are still available for the shift they signed up forGathers information about each volunteers' skills, availability, and goals; matches volunteers with appropriate opportunities based on this dataDevelop volunteer schedules to ensure adequate personnel to meet operational needsProvide training for new volunteers and/or new roles, including JFS policies/proceduresEnsure volunteers have a thorough understanding of their job descriptions and responsibilitiesReview and analyze the monthly data reports for volunteers through the volunteer management databaseCreate the shelter segment for the JFS monthly volunteer newsletter to share important updates and statistics with shelter volunteers and stakeholdersWelcome volunteers upon arrival & provide them with name tags, tour of the shelter location(s), and connect them with their shift supervisorConduct LiveScan fingerprint checks for all new volunteersFacilitate communication and volunteer engagementCoordinates volunteer recognition and appreciation events and activitiesRegularly communicates with volunteers to ensure placement is a good fit for individuals skills and goalsConduct regularly scheduled communication with volunteers to provide direction and guidanceConsult with volunteers on a regular basis, address concerns and share ideasProvide timely direction to volunteers through written and verbal feedbackParticipate in required trainingAssist volunteers in their tasks assignments as neededMaintains files, records, applications, and other data concerning volunteer programCoordinate and execute various projects with the leadership teamParticipate in required trainingOther duties as assignedSkills/Experience/Abilities That Are a Must-Have:Bilingual in Spanish/EnglishDemonstrated experience supervising, leading, managing volunteersProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

    Associates/Bachelors degree and/or at least 1 year experience in related fieldCPR/First Aid & AED Certification preferred, but not required Valid CA Driver's License Must have reliable transportation to and from work locationsPhysical Demands of the Job:Must be able toSit for extended periods of timeCommunicating verbally to groups of volunteersSit or stand for long periods of timeReaching, bending, stoopingExtended work with computerLift up to 20 pounds
